Windows 10

Wow new build out now, downloaded and installed within VMWare.

Found Windows Update was gone in Control Panel as it now moved into Settings/Update & recovery. Nice.

Oh wow look what I just found...

DirectX 12!!! :D

If Intel and Nvidia will release DirectX 12 drivers soon then I definitely will install Windows 10 Build 9926 on hard drive and install DirectX 12 drivers then test out some DirectX 12 demos if people been busy coded demos since last year.

The min, max and close graphics are vile. Its 2015! Not 1998. Not that Windows 8 was any better.

I think this new build looks awesome.
Not really playing much games these days, so I can't say I've had much in the way of problems with the OS at all. Some flaky triple monitor ways, and password entry issues a couple months back, but nothing since then.

Looking forward to getting it on our a test Dell Venue 11 at work.

Installed it on my main machine and took a gamble.

So far everything works!

Really like the new UI changes, shame Cortana doesn't work in the UK though, any way to get around that?

Just got it installed in the last 20 mins. Might be a little quicker although I haven't had the previous build installed for a month since I had a hard drive failure. Not to keen on the new control panel/settings though. Can't find simple things like mouse scroll speed, device manager etc

So CS GO still crashes for me so still keeping my win 8 dual boot. And the tablet mode is nowhere near as good as windows 8 is on tablets on my DVP so I will be reverting that back to 8 later. Bad times :(.
Still should work great for most people.

Coming from XP all I want is a classic look with all the bells and whistles behind giving it more performance, reliability and security. And if I can talk to it well that’s a new spin on things. But I hate that Fisher Price look. I thought they had learned there lesson with this sort of thing. I seriously hope its on the install options. Good thing is you guys can fire in your feed back and please do.

if you want it to look like XP but be windows 10 you can use classic shell 4.2, screen shot below of classic shell with classic start menu

I had issues using windows 10 and csgo.

would load etc and you can hear the music but screen would be black, set to windowed mode through launch options and was fine but didn't fit properly so went back to 7

I have windows 10 installed on a VM to try it out on

Yes Change Region to US, Keyboard to US (Delete UK), Set time to US and clocks back to UK time manually Language to US

and then Cortana will work ,but is very crippled at the moment and not really worth the effort.

so can i clarify something with regards windows 10 and xbox one

i keep reading that you will be able to stream your games to your pc

1. will this be limited to small app games you think

2. we have 1 big tv and to be honest no room for another so if i want to play some xbox it has to be around the wifes eastenders and corrie lmao . So are you saying its possible when released i will be able to play say call of duty on my xbox but using my 17 inch laptop screen while the wife watches her sloppy soaps on the tv .

is so im in lol

Brave people sticking in on a main machine. Remember that it's effectively late Alpha software so don't start crying when you lose data or something doesn't work as it does under 8.1.

I'll stick to a virtual machine thanks very much!

No need to install third party now... there is a reg key modification to get it back.

Also some nice new UI tweaks for you modification freaks. :)

Code:
[B]"Get Start Menu Back Pre-Jan Build"[/B]

Step 1, Open Registry as an administrator and navigate the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Step 2, Finally create a new DWORD called EnableXamlStartMenu and leave the default value of 0.

Step 3, Reboot.
