Windows 10

That's technically not true. True in the sense of the GUI was based on Win95. But Win7 was built on the NT kernal, spawning from WinNT, Win2000, WinXP. WinXP was the first consumer OS to drop x68 kernal that was the base for MS Dos, Win95, Win98/SE and WinME.

My point still stands ,still decade or so since Win2K to Win7,point being Win8/10 are still very much new as a new complete OS,come back after ten years and see how well the new complete OS direction has improved/doing.

Sad thing is everybody expects it all on day one with no issues,OS does not work that way with new designs/improvements.

I wanted to go from 8.1 to 7 on my Main laptop this morning, and so I took the opportunity to give 10 another shot.

Previos install, I was unable to get the nVidia running, it would always force the intel graphics only, even though the drivers seemed to install for the nVidia.

Previously the complete setup was unable to get all the drivers in, and there was still a couple of yellow marks where drivers were not found / installed.

This time it seemed to accept the drivers that I had... These drivers that I had, were saved from the DVD I had with the Laptop, plus ones that I have downloaded and I had Windows 8 64 Bit versions of them only.

I let the Device manager search for the drivers itself and I never forced any of them in, and it found all teh drivers for all the devices just fine and I was left with no yellow larkers this time.

However, when I shutdown and resterted, it failed to start up, offering me to confinute to retry or restart. I was unable to get the thing back up, but to be fair I did not try that hard... I was merely passing through windows 10 land again on my way back to Windows 7 anyway.

But I see its certainly getting there on that laptop... I do also have an older version of it on an old 6370 Laptop and its irritatingly, running spot on, so the wife is just happy as it is... We shall eave it there until it dies or whatever else happens.

What will happen? It says that it will shut down on April the 25th I think it was?

Can we not just buy it and NOT have it shut down, or will be need a complete fresh install?

Never did it before. Changed it from 'Never' to 1800 minutes, seems to have sorted it, must be a bug.

This didn't sort it, seems to spin down after like 5 or 10 minutes, the of course the system freezes fo4 a few seconds every time it has to spin up again, very annoying.

How stable is the technical preview?

I had issues BUT from what I've read you either get some bad bugs or you don't.

Given it's free to try I say there's nothing wrong with giving it a go - just go into it with your eyes open.

ive been using build 9926 for gaming and my main OS and I have had no issues.

the build before csgo wouldn't even load but all my games are fine.

I am happy with the OS in its current state, don't like the start menu and control pabel but installed classic shell to sort that
