Installed new build at work and it didnt install graphics drivers. No drivers available from windows update or intel for windows 10.

Strange as previous build worked without any problems, what a step backwards.

Are they the Intel iGPU drivers?

The model is a hp 8100 sff with intel 4300 gta onboard graphics drivers i think.

I had to go back to windows 7 because the old build is on longer available for download.

Micro USB stick with the preview ISO extracted to it.
Then from Win8 launch the installer, if you boot straight from the USB then you have no drivers for stuff

I'm tempted to sweep up Windows 8.1 and lay down Windows 10.

I've been using it for a good few weeks now without a single issue, general browsing, media encoding, light gaming, never missed a beat.

question

If I need to re-install my OS after a disk failure and I have Win 10, what will be the procedure?

I assume that the licence key for my Win 7 will be transferred when I install Win 10 or is it a new key?

Do i need to make an ISO on a flash/SSD and create a Win 10 boot disk? (does the boot disk load in drivers to download from MS for fresh install?) or would it just be easier to clone the drive on a new SSD once installed and keep as a backup...

I am looking forward to Windows 10. Definitely going to upgrade my 7. I think Windows 10 looks nice actually. Quite like the (I think it's this) metro UI.

Think i might have to attempt to duel booting this tomorrow, and just see if i can make a transfer at all.

Be interested in seeing how well they have re-developed the Spartan browser too.

Anyone had success in duel booting with 8.1?

I've gone back to 8.1 on my Venue8p, what I said last time still stands, I think there are more people running it on desktops than tablets so there arent as many people flagging issues vs desktops, I think, for me at least 8.1 works better on tablets as the tablet mode on 10 just doesnt give the same fluidity that 8.1 does..

I had no issues running steam and my steam games also origin when I was using windows 10

windows update is a pain in the arse in windows 10. cant hide individual updates so what do you do when a device driver from windows update doesnt work?.... :mad:

in this case, i'm watching it reinstall a broken gpu driver at every reboot. This is infuriating!

Been using Windows 10 since the first Technical Preview, all games work without problem.

As have I and none of the games I've played have had an issue. For what it's worth I'm using a R9 290 GPU.

I had a issue with one of the builds where CSGO would load and just be a black screen with sound in the background, when changed to window mode it was fine.

changed when the latest one came out and worked fine

Steam seems fine, although it does throw up a error about being unable to update now and again, but i don't know if that's W10 or Steam itself, but it hasn't stopped me loading games or playing online

Want to install this to another HDD but the upgrade tool they have doesn't work and when I burn it to a DVD it doesn't come up in boot. Any ideas?
