Moderate snow here, not settling on pavements / roads yet. This is too late for me now tbh. I would like some sunny spring warmth at this point!

This is Britain, we're meant to have a fairly cold weather, and we've had it very good for nearly a decade largely without meaningful snow. I'd rather have a cold but fairly dry white winter, as we have had here this year, than a cold wet one, as most years have been recently.

I remember in 2005 or so we had a horrendously cold spell in April. We were at Donington for the BTCC and there was a bit of snow forecast, but we thought "well it won't be that bad"... 2L bottles of coke inside a tent were frozen solid by the morning; apparently it got to -7c overnight.

Snowing pretty hard here where I am in Somerset but its almost 3C out so nothing settling - good volume of big damp snow flakes though.

Just on the M3 heading past Chandler's Ford and it's like a bloody blizzard. Tryintg to get to Cheltenham, might have to abandon this effort.

Yep, giving up. Not risking it.

Snow here, not settled, someone I know who is from Denmark says they've constantly had a ft of snow there and they don't notice it, cyclists, peds, motor vehicles, all normal

As a doorman stood outside in one spot for roughly 8hrs a night I'm utterly fed up of this blasted weather.

Looks like more of it to come - deep cold pooling off the end of the current models around the 25th and possibly at the end of the month as well though these will probably only effect the North.

If this had happened through January we'd likely have had ridiculous amounts of snow and the country literally wouldn't have coped.

EDIT: Some speculation the disruption event will have changed our weather pattern until we start climbing back out the current solar minimum.

3am and still snowing in Southampton. Its been on the go for about 10 hours now, shame it hasnt been big flakes. Mind you even so, everywhere out the back is white, maybe around an inch. Hardly any on the road surfaces though.

Been snowing constantly and quite thick here since 9pm and was on and off 6pm to 9pm but not much on the ground - maybe 1-2cm.

Heavy again here now. Showing it heavy till 6am now

This morning looks a very similar scene to a week last Thursday near Bitterne Leisure Centre, at least 5cm of snow on top of wheelie bins, with fine flakes still falling. I hope things are safer on West End Road compared to last time, when it looked like the gritters forgot about it and cars had to travel at 10mph tops!

Bit of a blizzard up here in Edinburgh this morning though not a lot of snow. Doubt my cat Millie will come for her morning walk when I have brave the elements for milk the big wuss that she is. Though she was happy to chase ********** yesterday whilst running back and forth on the window ledge one story up.

Yep just woke up after going to bed at 4:15. Whilst it was still snowing then, it was heavy but such small flakes like it had been all day. Really suprised to see it still snowing and really thick again like 2 weeks ago.

Just looked at met office update, they are now giving snow this evening through to the early hours of the morning. We werent meant to be getting any snow today at all but forecast seems to have changed again.
I wish every winter could be like this. Love it.

Is the disruption event the Sudden Stratospheric Warming? And isn’t the solar cycle like 11 years long, how long till this one ends? Any places to look up that speculation I’m occasionally interested by these things even if not an active weather climate news follower.
