WINTER 2018/2019 - Chat thread!

Snowing like hell in Shropshire - must have at least 2 mm at moment - Good job we don't have to go out tomorrow it will be chaos.:rolleyes:

Just south of St Albans it came down hard. 2-3 inches in a couple of hours. Was a tricky drive in the side roads.

Really?
I'm just north of Stevenage. Just snowed for a bit, but was too wet to settle. Fully expect it to be nice and slippery tomorrow morning though.

At times like this I miss living at the bottom of a hill in Hitchin. Was comedy gold first thing in the morning. Best was a brand new *Sub 6 months old* BMW M5 failing to stop and sliding into a Land Rover Discovery, complete with tow bar. Ouch... They both pulled over and the BMW driver got out and and started having a shout at the Landy owner. Unfortunately for him, he forgot to close his door. Cue another BMW sliding down the hill and taking out his door. :D

Can never get pictures to work anymore.

We've got a light dusting now, like icing sugar light over cars and other surfaces that aren't damp, but on the roads, etc. its still wet from rain earlier and temperatures aren't that cold.

LOL that op run (that isn't -15C at ground level) - interesting it isn't without support from the ensemble (though not much) - looking at the control run on that and the control and op on the previous 12z run the model seems to be picking up on something but no idea what yet.

Without anything solid coming through on disruption to the jet stream though I'm still holding off on any notable event - aside from a brief brush any cold to the east isn't getting anywhere close either.
