WINTER 2018/2019 - Chat thread!

I think if we are going to see anything memorable from this it will be into Feb - too much through late Dec/Jan the meat has been hovering at the end of the output and never getting any closer.

Correct we were stuck at t+240 onwards for what seems a few months, now we are at t+120 for a snow event with a massive cold pool to our east, truly amazing HLB / Greeny HP and flat zonal atlantic output.

Snowed like hell here today in Shropshire - I counted at least 20 snow flakes - Can I say that - I bet Turkey is laffing their socks off at us. :D - The main reason we haven't had snow is because this year I have yet to put my winter wheels on the car.

Think you posted a bit prematurely - the cold pooling to our east is getting shuffled away on the current output until beyond t+240 - on the other hand there is increasing support for the jet stream sinking towards the end of the month/early Feb which I think is going to be what unlocks the cold this year.

The snow gates to Long Mynd are shut so there must be quite a bit. Was meant to be riding there this weekend but staying local seeing as there's been a decent amount in Snowdonia

I am no expert by any means but always have a chuckle reading some of the stuff on here and the sheer contrast from t+240convos (which I really don’t understand and sounds very complicated) to comments about snowing like hell.. 20snow flakes - love it lol

Tuesday looking marginal for widespread snow but for most it will probably be wet snow/sleet unless on high ground and short lived though those on high ground in certain parts could see quite a bit.

Any notable wintery weather still hovering at the end of the model runs.

Whats happening then experts? What's latest for this potential snow fall countrywide at the end of the month? I'm not seeing anything on BBC website

Didn't see any ice in Southampton this morning, but I reckon with the rain this afternoon and dropping temps, it could be lethal tomorrow morning.

Yep, our building emptied in about 10 minutes, now they are all parked in the car park and on the road queuing to leave lol.

Haha!

I'm not looking forward to driving on the M1 back home with people driving 50mph in the third lane, better get a long playlist ready!

Still getting pushed to the end of the model runs for any potential notable event.

EDIT: They are trying to be optimistic on the various weather forums but the latest model outputs are pretty meh for wintery weather with the indications being bumping along with what would be dismal grey and cool but not really cold with intermittent mild and rainy patches even the signs for the jet stream sinking around the end of the month/early Feb are less confident and little that would shift any cold from the east of us (which seems diminished) our way.
