Is that street on a slope ? or just the way the pic was taken. That would be horrible if that road was ice.

Yes it's on a steep slope - we usually get a tractor with snow plough to help clear the road when it snows. Pretty much every winter people are stranded at the bottom (about 200 houses)

tyre pressure was the biggest problem, but maybe helps with grip, otherwise, main roads had been gritted
mittens on, skull cap, some kind of balaclava would be nice but suspect it would ruin peripheral vision.

My setup:

winter jacket
2 layers of merinool wool clothing
2 pairs of gloves
thermal tights below bibs
face cover
skull cap
toe covering for feet

Everything is manageable but my hands still get freezing despite the appropriate gloves :(

Had trouble getting to sleep last night.

Couldn't get my feet warm, even with the electric blanket on.

Finally got up and put my socks on, which helped a lot.

I hate tthe cold, if hell exists, it ain't a warm place.

One good thing about this cold air is how dry it is. 1ºC and 77% relative humidity equates to 25% humidity at 19ºC so opening the window here and there has got our house down to <50%RH, even showing 39% RH downstairs right now.

Our cars that haven't been used today still have a heavy frost on them now :s not going to be fun on the days I'm working.

Today was the first day on frost at my new place and I've found that my car stays frosted over due to no sun at all, so I've just ordered a new scraper as it will be needed!

It got down to 0c @ 11pm last night was actually a frost on the cars this morning, the first this winter.

Google Fort Drum Lake Effect Snow if you want to see some real snowfall, 4.5 ft of snow in 3 days!

Wait til the "I got an electric shock whats going on?!" posts start appearing just walking across a synthetic carpet is enough to build up a healthy static charge when its this dry
