Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

My neighbour only started to drive again after breaking a bone on her foot. So used tap water to defrost her car.

Just before 11, I had an appointment so de-iced l my car. Our allocated bays are next to each other. Slipped on the water which froze over. Smacking my head and side of hand on kerbstone.

Not blaming my neighbour as she probably can’t stand for long hence why she uses tap water. She drives an automatic

Saw the practice nurse for something else. She checked the injuries and plastered up the hand. She said if I slipped a few cm further away, I probably broke my wrist.

Please be vigilant when de-icing cars!

Another near miss with not breaking any bones in 41 years

Was minus 11 in Rishton East Lancashire this morning at 0530 Helped the wife de ice her car then back to bed before night shift tonight. Currently minus 2. Boosted heating as it dropped below the 15 Celsius it’s set to overnight. Nice toasty 20 Celsius. Roll on Sunday up to a tropical 13 Celsius.
Seems like a distant memory of summer when it was 38 in the shade.
Greece in September 39-46 Celsius daytime and 28-32 night temperatures.
No aches back then. Ribs are giving me pain from when I fractured them in February because it’s bloody freezing.
Roll on average winter temperatures.

A tip is to lower visors when have windscreen heater or blowers on as they keep the heat. Do this when scraping the other windows, wing mirrors etc.

Yeah its got colder today, they sure warmer air is coming?

Woke up to 4.5C room temp down from 8.3C yesterday. Normal for this time of year is about 14C room temp.

As things stand the models are backing off a potential return to milder conditions outside of a brief warm up 17-20th - I don't really know enough to understand what the setup might bring (the global setup at the moment is very complex actually - well outside of my limited knowledge) other than it looks increasingly like the jet is disrupted and more often pushed away south west of us or forked rather than over us which generally means one of the bigger barriers to cold weather in the UK is having reduced input.

Personally think we will likely see strengthening pulses of cold shots mixed with contrasting milder shots over the winter.

Clear skies tonight (sigh) - de-icing the car tomorrow.

Need to be more wary, esp after slipping. I wore trainers with a reasonable grip
