We had rain last night and this morning was already a slippery mess. First corner and the car went straight on lol, the rest of the journey was fine as the main roads were gritted pretty well.

Make sense to me. Heating a small couple of meters square, rather than an entire house?
2 quid an hour to heat the whole house or 36p an hour to heat a single room.
Yeah because that's a fair comparison central heating the house Vs electric heating a room.

Cold dry and crisp has been replaced by wet and horrid. I also am yet to be convinced it's an improvement.

I didn't decide on the comparison. That was decided in post 1099. We were discussing someone's oil heater, right?
I've personally never lived in a house that can central heat just a chosen room. I realise these days you can get smart additions for radiators, but even then, it's not as simple as just plonking an oil heater next to you where ever you sit.

Pretty much yeah, the smaller the air mass you heating, the cheaper it is, which is why electric blankets are the boss, they only have to heat that little gap between the blanket and body.

Noticeably warmer here (West Midlands) too, the CH can finally get up to temp.
with a good duvet , electric blanket is largely redundant , just a pre-heat
I suspect natural downs insulation qualities / keeping heat in,are superior to wrapping yourself in Rockwool ? eider ducks & friends.

The main entrance auto doors don't close fully - leaving a 50cm gap and the cold air blows through this gap.
At least I don't have to scrape ice on my car next few days. Today it was double ice.
