Winter 2022/23 - It's too cold :(

Had tons of snow coming down, at one point high density of huge flakes, but only a few mm stuck and that has almost all gone now - a few bits in the shade still have a light covering.

Sadly a tease of the real thing.

After another layer of snow during the day, driving home last night was a bit dicey 'cause BMW. If I didn't have the proper tyres I doubt I would have made it.

In all the years I have had a set of winter wheels I have only ever used them in snow like that once. I did feel it was money well spent.

The joy of going round corners without going straight on.

Its nowhere near as cold as the spell before xmas what a lot of nonsense. Glorious blue sky today not a cloud to be seen.

It’s was the endless rain before the quick freeze that caused most of the issues here.

starting to get closer to the early Dec temps now.

Room temp going to just above 10C without intervention.

Same, the unheated rooms are about 10C. Keeping upstairs warmed, although with the wife away for a few days I’m not too bothered.

I got up this morning to some light snow. Within 30 minutes it was snowing very heavily, more than I have ever seen in the UK. It stopped after almost two hours and had dropped 8-10 inches of fresh snow. I haven't seen that much snowfall in such a short time since my last tour of the Falklands. There were accidents everywhere and all the time I was out clearing our's and next doors paths and then the cul-de-sac all I could hear were sirens. One of the neighbours returned without his car and told me there was a lorry jack-knifed going down the hill towards the village, another in the village itself along with several accidents and there were tailbacks of 6-8 miles in each direction. Just as well I wasn't going anywhere today.

Quite annoying as it was snowing yesterday harder than I've seen in the UK before but nothing came of it due to being already damp and slightly too warm :( just slight bits drifted in sheltered corners in the shade which have somehow clung on.

Loads of accidents with the ice though - the air ambulance, stationed near where I live, has been getting a workout.

I know its hard to predict but yesterday seemed we were over the minus nights and warming up, today looked and its not getting warmer now till Wednesday, and much colder than it said at the weekend, Sunday a whopping 2c in the day. Said last night today was 7 now its 4 on met site and sat night was 2c over night now its -3, that's some change within hours, just goes to show you these forecasts are fairly useless and you have to just take it they can't really predict anything beyond the actual day.

I think the BBC have a bloke looking up at the sky around here and change the forecast in real time

Up until a few hours ago the BBC was showing temperatures above freezing until around 2-3am here, now it is showing -1C by 20:00 and getting down to -5C overnight.

2021 was worse then last year and this year. Ice and snow everywhere and lasted quite a while. I slipped on black ice and almost broke my arm. It went black and blue and ached all over for about a month. lol.

So much snow today! I spent 40 minutes outside and feel like getting sick now.
No sitting under my blanket and reading canadian pharmacy website. Want to find some vitamins for the immune system there and also some basic medications for cold, cause i don't have any at home anymore. That was even long time since i've been in a normal pharmacy.
