Winter 2024/25 - Cold or Mild? Rain or Snow?

Thats the primary reason why 15 years ago we decided to spend every December/Christmas/New Year in Canada, we simply got fed up of throwing back the curtains on Christmas morning and it basically looking like a rainy October day outside. We decided right then, from now on, every year will be Canada so that we can have a Christmas that actually looks like the Christmasses that tv adverts and movies are always thrusting at us :)
Would love to do this but bet it's a few bob. We went to Lapland a few Christmases ago. The first time going on a "cold" holiday and I loved every minute of it. Broke the bank a bit though.

Yeah its a several thousand in total each December but its worth it. Not missed a year for 15 years now (except the Covid years when travel wasnt possible, and that was hell, being consigned to a UK Christmas , gah ! )

Waiting for Storm Ashley to hit the Highlands which is due to get to me at around midnight tonight.

The west coast will get the brunt of it though.

I read that this storm absolutely battered Ireland and Scotland as it came across but you wouldn't have a clue if you looked at the BBC website. If this was hitting the south it would be wall to wall coverage.

Still thinking this is going to be a cold winter, or atleast we are going to have one hell of a cold snap at some point compare to last year.

Far more rain ( Slower moving ), low pressures a lot further north, not your usual low after low going from south west to north east.

There are articles on the BBC site but because nobody called the storm gay it didn't make the front page, but I digress.

It was quite wild here with the trees taking a battering and now leaves everywhere, lots of leaves...
