Winter 2024/25 - Cold or Mild? Rain or Snow?

Well I bought some fleece for my Banana plants but no point in using yet as they are still kicking out big leaves, lawn still needing the usual mow

I forgot all about my plan to put fleece on my plants this October. It’s been so mild. Think I need to leave it a bit longer.

Yep the tropical section is still very tropical , had a quick coffee down there before sunset although the wind has done its shredding on the leaves but i think its how they protect themselves

Based on current forecasts for a central-tropical Pacific based La Nina cold anomalies, westerly QBO this winter and solar maximum it seems that, for this coming winter, the combination of these drivers will bring a predominantly mild and sometimes wet "zonal" flow through winter.

It might be very mild here at 16/17C and dry, but it's so cloudy, our lounge is dark again like it's mainly been since the weekend... Possibly time for daytime lighting again.

I'm cold and have a cold, CH on, and guess it will stay on until Mayish.

I have cut the lawn again today for the last time (again). Cut it to 60mm and hope it stays cut. Partially shaded the greenhouse on its shady side with an old mattress cover and last year's geraniums are keeping warm. A few cayenne peppers are still turning crimson.

Weather cool and cloudy.
