Sadly it's not even that. When I originally read his post I saw the spoiler too.
I suspect three nights with barely any sleep is to blame for this
Back on topic... I think the tv series has done an amazing job with the spirit of the books. The author's heavy involvement really shows, though it's also clear that he's happy to take on board some feedback about how books don't always translate perfectly to film.
Looking forward to the next episode where the aliens show up!
