Rubbish, ****, garbage, gash, horrendous, terrible. Add any other similar description and (for me) it would fit that episode.

The Eddard death was handled sooo poorly you could see it coming a mile away, it wasnt suspenseful or surprising unlike the book. Really annoyed me how poorly that was handled.

Missing out the battles was such a kop out as well, they've blabbed about it being the biggest most expensive production but they won't even do battle scenes?! Without the battles it's just Eastenders with more graphic sex scenes and a few swords. They made up the Tyrion getting knocked out to skip the battle, lol, they could have just focused on a small part of the battle I.e. Tyrions part and it would have still been important.

Can't believe they completely skipped Robbs battle as well, hell even in the books it was only a little skirmish iirc in which they captured an unprepared Jaime.

I can't get over how annoyed I am with the direction the series has taken, it's went from epic to cheap in one episode. If they skip every battle throughout the series it's plain pointless. It's a WAR of succession for **** sake.

Not even sure if I will bother with the rest of the season now, highlighted why I hate adaptions.

There is only ONE episode remaining this season, so it is hardly a chore for you, sheesh, some people are so judgemental.

This whole first season has been something of a pilot, and the budget wasn't THAT great, and I would guess that they skipped over the big battle sequence, in favour of the more important "speaky" parts, but I could be wrong, who knows, go ask the producers..

I'm going to read the first book. Not sure now whether to read the other books before watching the TV show though.

Just read fifty pages of the first book for the last hour and so far the book seems to mirror the tv series pretty well, feels like being there almost. I think ill definitely push on with the books before the next series.

The ******* was lucky Bean hadn't had his sword on him.
Ned is actually executed by Ser Illyn with his own sword. Isn't made massively clear on the show, unless you spotted it's only other appearance in the first episode.

Figured I should drop a note here anywho. Love the show. As a massive, longtime fan of the books it's great to see them getting the love they deserve - and the wide appreciation the transcends the usual stigma attached by Jonny Public to anything found on the Fantasy shelf.
It reminds me a lot of Rome in it's production values - no surprises given theyre both HBO shows. Rome too was a bit light on the battle scenes, which is disapponting, but hopefully they'll up the ante in that regard for season two just like they did in... you guessed it, Rome!

I want to know what's going on with the Dothraki, even if Karl gets healed i doubt the others will follow him, never mind how he would treat her if he knew what she'd done.

Yea the Dothraki part all got a bit too weird for me :p

Won't see them in Westeros for a while now i think..

For what it's worth, I've read all the books but that hasn't diminished my enjoyment of the TV show one bit (with the obvious exception that I know what happens). I'm getting a kick out of seeing the story acted out on screen.

Yeah... okay so i googled 'Karl Drogo' and i speed-read 'A Wiki of Ice and Fire' on the first result so immediately thought "yeah, i must be right"

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I hope they forget about the books which probably 70% of the people watching this have not read or even heard of before this series, and instead in the next episode what they should do is quickly have someone take the head and body of ned and take them to the wall to be touched by a night walker or whatever they are and then magically come back to life as a zombie? Or how about do a little more of that blood magic they did on Drogo.

Come on I want to see Ned win. I wanna see the twincest kid lose urinary continence from the sight of Ned's blade!

put the bong down

Can't agree with people moaning about battle scenes. Unless you do it ala Braveheart, with hundreds of extras it just looks unrealistic anyhow. Whats a battle scene anyhow? Just 2 sets of people, horses etc screaming at each other fighting. Give me great acting over this any day of the week.

viewers aren't accustomed to seeing their favorite characters get killed so early on.

Unless its spooks.

Lots of people didn't see it coming because its not what Hollywood normally does. Good guys win, bad guys always lose.

Not here.....

One of the reasons the books are so brillient, even if your not usualy a fantasy reader they still grip you... I read all 4 of them back to back in a few weeks, realy couldn't put them down, So many unexspected twists and turns ..brillient !!

Shows doing a good job so far I reckon .
