:D

I didn't like the end episode, it could've been longer and more happening. I'm going to call game of thrones, BLEACH as every episode is dragged out week by week till the season ends.

what a load of pap - please stop watching.

Great end to a fab season thats really got the mood right. looking forward to 2012 and season 2. Given from the complete lack of stock waterstones has I presume that sales of the books have gone through the roof since the show started airing. would love to see the sales stats.

Good series. I want to pick up the books, should I go straight to number 2 or start at 1?

Now those new books get added to my stack of must reads, do I go for the new Iain M banks Culture novel ? !

If you mean surface detail, then yes, go for it, its a damn fine read, and brought me right back into culture loving goodness with the borderline-physopathic picket ship, 'Falling Outside The Normal Moral Constraints'

He's like a good Joffrey...... one you cheer for, not detest!

Awesome series, great end. I like other I think will have to get the books, especially as I'm spending a month of this summer interailing around Europe, plenty of time to read!

Anyone else order their Game of Thrones "Winter Is Coming" t-shirt from teefury?

Absolutely fantastic series, really enjoyed it. HBO did their usual thing of cramming everything into the last 2 episodes though. I felt the same about The Wire, most of the episodes were slow-paced, but full of tension and then suddenly it all kicks off right at the end.

I'm definitely buying the books.

All seemed to be going a bit Deadwood , was watching the clock thinking oh no there's not going to be much resolved here .... and then comes that ending , jesus christ, still in shock after watching it for a second time.

Spring 2012 to find out what happens next ? , nope, time to get reading me thinks.

Yes it's a serious question. After watching the first tv series I'm wondering if I should go straight to book 2 or if it's worth reading 1 first.

Well worth reading the first. There is lots that they didn't cover on the tv and you get a much better understanding why everybody behaves like they do and the interactions between characters.

Things different so far:

Dire wolfs are huge!
Neds children are young with his eldest been only 14!
Ned's wife gets to the capital before Ned and the King arrives.
etc etc

Whats actually wrong with book 4?

If you haven't read the books then you need to know that each chapter is told from a particular character's point of view e.g. Eddard, Bran, Tyrion etc while at the same time progressing the story. In book 4 this deviates slightly in that the author has picked a set of character POVs but not all the character POVs. Worse still, the characters he's picked aren't our favourites (won't name any, don't want to spoil whose still alive ;) ).

I heard that book 5 will tell the same story as in book 4 but from the characters left out POV. Book 4 is still a good book imo - plenty of treachery and intrigue but it does feel like a bit of a half-assed job.
