Unfortunately I don't think we will ever see an end to this kind of cheating. If the resources of a state are behind them then they are going to be a step ahead of the testers - most of the time anyway...

Her legal team have said Grandpa's medicine could have been the cause...that maybe she drank a glass of water from him containing his drug.
Case & point, it's almost comical.
I genuinely think the same guy who thought up the Salisbury Cathedral tourist excuse was used for the grandpa excuse, has his comedy hallmark.

The IOC are a shambles, would love to know what claws Russia have in that organisation.

In my eyes their is zero excuse, yes she is 15 and quite possibly a victim in all of this but this is sport cheating runs deeper than the individual in this situation allowing her to compete again is a serious kick in the teeth to everyone else.

Bah, Dave Harding is out.
Hardings post match speech was a bit churlish 'there are more important things in life than the olympics' - so don't have any funding next time.
winter olympians £45M,
I'd still like to know how much russian taxpayer financed medals cost them versus usa/uk.

freestyle skiing good - with the return to normal weather conditions -

Oh man. A few minutes ago, Valieva skated for the medals and fell badly on almost every jump. It was difficult to watch, a really shocking performance. I felt so sorry for her. Robin Cousins was crying. All the pressure and scandal had gotten to her. Came 4th in the end.

GB starting 10th end and are currently up 6-4 against the US in the curling semi final. If we win this, and as this decides who plays in the gold medal match, I think this means we'll be guaranteed a medal.

Yes! GB v Sweden in the final. So gold or guaranteed silver for us. Finally, a medal.

Wierdest thing I have seen in the Olympics for a while, the Americans giving away a definite point in 9th end, that would have made the 10th end far easier for them only needing one, when they had the hammer.

Giving a free point to GB, meaning USA had to get 2 as a minimum in 10th end.

Made no sense whatsoever, just making a rod for their own back.

Valieva all over the place and finishes 4th in free skate.

You love to see it.

:D

For the Russian skating body yes, not so much for Valieva (who I still think was innocent in this on her part)
Don't really mean Jack to the Russian skating body they won the gold anyway with one of the other skaters (trained by the same coach as Valieva and no doubt also been supping her grandads tea).

Total failure on behalf of the IOC and CAS that she was even out there on the ice. Disgraceful really letting a 15 year old come under scrutiny like that.
