Wolfenstein: The New Order

it looks ok, it's a run and gun shooter...nothing special

As I was watching the video, I remember thinking that years ago if a game like this was released, (fps, reasonable visuals, secrets to find, plenty of weapons...and so on) people would invariably give it the thumbs up. I suppose expectations are higher now, which is understandable I guess.

To be fair the COD fans are going to hate this kind of game. It's really one for those of us who have fond memories of games like Doom and Quake.

As such, I'm sold. Just looking around to see where I can get it the cheapest then i'll get the download going.

(80MBit Fibre so the patch doesn't bother me :p)

Looking at Total Biscuits video, iD 5 really is a strange beast when it comes to (the lack) of graphics options. The size of the install is undoubtedly textures, RAGE was the same

I'm not entirely sure what people expect from a shooter though? You hear the whiners roll out the usual stuff, bland / generic / corridor etc. At the heart of it fps games are about killing things, if that mechanic feels satisfying and is challenging then it's job done for me. I don't think the fps genre has particularly evolved for the better, just got easier. The prevalence of "Dad's Army" games has lowered the skill level and increased unnecessary fluff, perks, medals.

Downloaded for me in an hour and 20 mins, quicker than going to GAME to buy it. :D

Anyone seen any patch notes? Can't see anything online.

Caved in, I'm so weak !! :D 1h 20m's it's approximating for download.

Really enjoying this so far. Had a black line across the screen a couple of times, about 1.5" thick. But other than that, the game looks good. Only took 40 minutes, from inserting the key to starting the game.

Where do you register the Doom beta key. I bought Wolfenstein from Simplycdkeys, got 2 codes, first one I used is for the game. But the other one, which I assume is for Doom, does not register on steam, says it is not a valid key. I'm I doing something wrong!?
