Wolfenstein: The New Order

wow this game crashes like mad, at the end of every level and for every movie cut scene, it also crashes every time you die, the screen just goes black and stays black.

as a shooter it's quite good, graphics about average, similar to Bioshock and it has no framerate issues/ screen tearing/RAM limit etc.

if you storm them they die easy, it's also quite good at stealth, but they detect you very easily  much more so than FC3 or Dishonored, so in this respect the game is very lifelike....because they only have to glance towards you and you've had it.... you can not get careless and stand there out in the open, you need to use cover all the time and crouch down......unless of course you dont care and want to storm them instead, which is fair enough !

i expect there will be a patch to fix these crashes, because it must have crashed at least 40 times in 2 hours gaming, but at least you know EXACTLY when it's going to crash, because it never crashes whilst you're gaming; only if you die or whilst watching those cut scenes.

the settings i have are medium to high, but nothing on Ultra, my rig handles this game easily..... and it still looks great, there's load of stuff in that menu that you dont need on Max anyway; so there you go.

verdict :- great game, shame about all the crashes, because it's like playing Painkiller from 8 years ago....CRASH...CRASH....CRASH...CRASH :D:D:D

Crashes? I read that and thought "Wonder if he's got an ATI card" and looked at your sig and saw you did :p

I guess you've tried GFX driver updates?

Anyone a bit disappointed at that lack of multiplayer? I knew it was singleplayer only but the game is decent, I think multiplayer would work quite well.

Not seen a good Multiplayer that was not ruined by cheating kids for a while so no from me, anyway it would never be a simple and good as RTCW MP as that is one of the best ever.

You may not have seen what I posted already have you ?

Turn off all your background crap your running out of system memory, it's not a very efficient variant of id Tech 5 engine, the GFX card was using 2.5GB and after reloads most of the 8GB system (I do not run a page file) with raided SSD's and reloads were slow maybe 8 secs or so so that tells me there is an S load of data getting written to memory ;)

Gotta say, never had a single crash yet. Tho I did read about updating the ATI drivers..which I did..

Thank your lucky stars it aint WatchDogs!! Ive not even managed to get the game to run yet.. and logging into uPlay is more miss than hit...Thankfully I'm still enjoying Wolfenstein :)

Halp!

Just after the moon mission and you craqsh through that window... wow! I cant make headway at all. I take out the commander right away but I still get battered. I have hardly any ammo and moving = insta dead. Driving me mad. Must have retried many times. You have to be really quick taking out the commander too otherwise it's just plain impossible.

I had a similar problem, if you don't do it first time, it is even harder when reloading. This is how I done it, other players will have done it differently. I've used spoilers so as to not ruin for others. Hope it helps or gives you some ideas.

If don't finish this in one, best to restart the level, as you won't get the rifle with the grenade/rocket launcher when the game reloads.
As soon as you come through the window, pick up everything around you as quickly as possible. Do a run and slide to where there is a couple of chairs. Pick up the armour and anything else. Kill a few guards and then slide behind the bar. Kill as many guards as quickly as you can, including the commander, if you hav'nt already. Then using grenades and the "C" button with the rifle equipped and blast the hell out of the armoured commando. Once he is dispatched, mop up the remaining guards.
Just remember to shoot when sliding and duck up and down when behind cover. Don't wait to long behind the chairs, or you will die, as they don't offer much cover.

Something we did not mention was FOV....when I cranked it up to 100 the game said it will cause crashing...suspect even more caching of data may be the reason, that's worth a try if you tweaked it.

I came up on the same problem, quickly take out the commander and leg it straight though the middle and down the rubble outside. Job done :D

You can still grab the enigma codes if your quick.

Downloaded this last night, but it's not working :( says "Failed to start game (missing executrable)" anyone have any ideas, what steam tell you to do to try and fix it doesn't work.

Tried, and in the middle of trying again now, no luck. Really don't want to have to redownload as I wanted to play this tonight.

If steam verified it then it's good. Latest GFX drivers and make sure nothing else is running after that it's windows fault logs maybe, google for a start up switch for the game in safe mode if it exists even right click the executable and run in compatibility mode etc.. as it's OpenGl suppose it does not matter which.

This game seems pretty lightweight compared to some, although only about an hour in. Maxed at 1080p with multisample at 8* and I haven't seen sub 60fps apart from a a flicker to 59 as normal.

Yes it's very lightweight, I'm guessing because the textures are not so compressed, hence the silly big size and high memory requirements.

Having done one play through of this last week, I have started another on Uber mode. And tbh, I am finding this easier than the medium mode.
This is something I have noticed with quite a few games in recent years. So far I have died twice and I am just entering the Catacombs.
Think I might have to try one of the extra modes.
