Work in progress: 620ti Of Doom!

I refuse to beleive that anyone half interested in cars has no idea that Rover turbos exist or that anyone who has no interest in cars gives a crap whether Rover turbos exist. This whole SUPER SLEEPER ROVER thing fools nobody, do you really expect us to beleive every lift you give someone is full of people expressing how incredibly suprised they are with the hidden awesomeness of your car?

It's almost as bad as the time agw tried to convince us all that every time he goes out he gets a look of shock on at least one other motorists face.

Guys you don't do the cheap Rover crowd any favours with this sort of stuff, it just sounds cringeworthingly cheesey :D

All part of the experience though :D

I could believe that, after all it's not every day you see a car driving with no visible occupant :p ;)

Yeah, it kinda looks like this

:p

On a serious note, where did I say that?

I don't know what it is, but you seem to be of the mindset that drivers of old fast cars go out to try and prove a point of how awesome their cars are. I don't have a point to prove to anybody :)

Maybe you think that old fast Rovers have nothing going for them, apart from the fact that they're fast and therefore everyone must experience the awesomeness. Believe it or not, I like my Rover in more than a "yea man, itz well rapid innit". Yeah, it has the performance, but I also happen to like the interior, the looks and the way it cruises comfortably at 70mph on a motorway.

Having never owned an old fast car, how can you possibly comment. All you're doing is showing yourself as being seriously narrow minded.

It's pretty obvious many of you do from these threads :p

What makes you think I've never owned an old fast car

Absolutely, but nothing to say it's anymore than a middle aged man in a Subaru Impreza. Doesn't mean they're having to "justify the car to themselves".

You've owned the Xantia, Mondeo and BMW right?

Xantia = old, but not really worthy of a TLGP... unless you like to make the Corsa in your rear view mirror disappear ;)

Mondeo = not really classed as old, adequate performance but not exactly fast

BMW = again not old, good performance

I drive a 15 year old Rover. To me, 7.5 years isn't old :p

I'm sure to 99% of the public, your car hardly looks like an old shed either.

ti's are great, ive had zillions of them
still got an old GBE ball valve if you want it to get rid of the nasty stock boost control?

gives a great improvement over stock, shows new 330's a clean pair of heels
there only downside is the gearbox input shaft bearings, need tog et steel caged ones on there as they wear out rapidly.

ive still got an old 420gsi turbo and 220gti turbo

cant beat the T16

I'd rather have a much nicer slightly slower car than a faster older one or two trick nail.

Its like me building a space framed biked engined car and saying wow its quicker than a ferrari..... Yes perhaps it is quicker than a ferrari to 80mph but i know which one i'd rather be sat in.

After I ridy in Andys (AGW) car I can safely say I quite impressed considering the cost involved. To say he's probably had most parts off the car by now, i'd say it's a gret little car he can say that he built. It's probably just as capable as my CTR and listening to a turbo spoolng up is always a cool factor.

I think these turbo rovers are a great base to learn about cars on a budget and satisfying to fiddle with. If I wasn't hankering for a drop top, I'd be messing with a Rover considering my budget.
