Bit like your two posts.

:p

i can also pretty much gaurantee ive had a better education than you, so get over yourself.

You might want to review and get a refund on that education then, anyone with half a brain knows the phrase you can't polish a **** is incorrect.

You still only end up with a shiny turd though ;)

Not to say that owning a shiny turd can't be rewarding, I don't regret 1 second of owning a 16 year old car, and making it look as nice as possible was part of the charm. People couldn't believe just how good condition it was in (after rear subframe rebuilding :p) for a 16 year old!

I find the whole 'I've had a better education than you' comment rather amusing,

Seeing as to Polish a turd... means your doing something to it without making it any better.

The same could be said for your education :p

******* hell - if you're going to start arguing about who's had a better education you should at least capitalise properly and use a little bit of grammar!

And... I think he got the message :p

Did a gearbox oil change on Monday, as I was running 10/40 semi-synth engine oil in there until I could get hold of some MTF94. This went as follows:

1. Attempt to use socket to until filler hole. Always undo this first in case it's seized, and you can't fill up again :p
2. Fail because there isn't enough clearance, so use a ringspanner.
3. Use a 3/8" drive rachet handle to until the drain plug, armed with a container big enough to catch all the oil...
4. ...Or so you think. Try desparately to replace drain plug while your other hand gets covered in oil from the container overflowing.
5. Swear, lots.
6. Replace drain plug, and use a length of hose to allow filling from the engine bay.
7. Use a jug because you don't have a funnel, and cover the engine bay in lovely gearbox oil.
8. Replace filler plug when oil starts to pour out, over the pavement.

Done! :D

success :P

i think i overfilled my gearbox when i changed the oil last but because the car is lowered, the nose slightly down (stance n all that shiz) im stumped if i can work out what the level "should" be because the drain hole is at the front

10w40 in a gearbox? 0_o lol

I need to do the gearbox and diff oil in the 5 at some point, gbox filler is a bit of a sod to get to so I'm gonna but one of those pump things to make life easy. Can't overfill it either, it just dribbles out the filler hole when it's full :)

Mat, you mean you were able to undo the gearbox filler plug?

Even when I had the box off, I couldn't get mine undone.

I just fill through the speed drive instead!

I couldnt get the drain or filler plug of my gearbox when i was removing my engine and it still will not budge with the gearbox of the car. No matter i will just fill it through the hole where the gear shifter lies

Its the same as a 75W-90 gearbox oil
