I hope Cole gets a lot of minutes, if him and Rooney play well together they will cause problems for shaw

Fo sho. ;)

Cole behind Rooney is the way to start imo, bring the clown on if we're struggling.

Shoot Heskey when we arrive, sell him for meat.

Walcott was lucky to be in the squad for me, i'm harsh on the lad but i'm a gooner and watch pretty much every minute he plays.......he really hasn't developed his weaknesses (which are numerous) any since he was 16. If he can't develop at Arsenal he can't develop period.

Parker should have got in for sure.

I think if he hadnt cost Wenger as much as he did do he would have been dumped at the end of the season before last.

He really isnt a footballer, there are managers and ex pro's on the radio today saying its a shame as he is a raw talent who can change a game.
I prefer to look at this way, he is a headless chicken that cant beat a man, cant cross, cant tackle and who is virtually never in the right place or making the right decision for virtually every game he plays in.
For the 1% of every game in five he plays in where he manages to get round someone or pass a ball, he's awesome, for the rest of the time he is a talentless liability.
And dont get me started on how the **** that hopeless lunk Heskey and the complete disaster that is Upson have managed to wheedle their way into the squad.

My main concern in this squad is the complete lack of an out ball.
Say in the unlikely event we manage to go 1 nil up against a decent side, say Brazil, what are our options in carrying on from that point? with the players we have we cant defend for any length of time as none of them other than Terry are natural battlers, other than Rooney there is no one who can carry a ball, or sprint the whole length of the pitch to catch Rooney if he manages to run on to a clearance and support him on the counter.
He pretty much has to win the ball as it gets knocked up to him, beat his man, with the ball, turn and run, beat who ever else and then finish a one on one with the keeper.
Pretty much the same problem united have had this year, when Ronaldo and Tevez where there one of the three could get it, play it round the corner and 5 seconds and 2 passes later its in the back of the oppositions net.

tbf to Walcott he's still 21, which in football terms is very young, especially when at a big club, he would have been the youngest player in the squad and his career has been riddled with serious, long term injuries. In between the injuries he has shown plenty of promise and certainly enough to keep him around at the club. More recently he's taken a long time to find his feet, though he was the only Arsenal player that did anything against Barca even though that didn't matter anyway, in fact, he's usually really good in big games which is a great quality to have

It's definitely too early to write him off imo

4 years under Wenger and not one bit of an improvement? Something is not going right, even the lesser players at Arsenal gradually improve under Wenger.

Walcott might improve if he gains some composure but as of today he isn't good enough be in the England squad or Arsenal team, it's as simple as that. You can't afford to be taking a player you intend to play out wide who can't cross and snatches at shots. Yes he has the odd game where he manages it but he is not good enough to play at the highest level yet.

Wouldn't have minded seeing Parker get a seat on the plane but I don't think it was ever on the cards really once Barry was declared fit.

He has progressed, even if he hasn't shown it recently. He's stuck in a bad spell of form and it seems as though he has no confidence, not a good thing for an attacker. If he has another indifferent season then words need to be had for sure, but rarely does a player become consistent before 23/24, only the very best

I suppose you could say that Gerrard has had just as bad of a season as Walcott, and he's in his prime, yet he's a shoe-in still, same with a few more players

You really are dead set on trying to get us to believe in Walcott aren't you, it isn't going to happen untill we see something on the pitch though. :p

First he's being compared to Carrick and now Walcott

By Gerrard's standards he had a poor season but his standards are light years ahead of anything Walcott has or ever will reach. It all boils down to expectations; Gerrard's expected to produce top performances every week so when he doesn't and even if he's had just a reasonable game, he gets stick.

Walcott's rubbish and has been rubbish all season and doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the squad. Maybe if he can perform as well as Gerrard has in his worst seasons then he might stand a chance of getting in the squad for the next Euros. He's shown nothing to suggest he's able to perform even at that level though.

That's a bit harsh Baz. Walcott certainly has the potential to be a world class player. Has he realised it yet? No, but that's not to say he won't! :)

Walcott has not showed any end product. Rooney looked like he wanted to stab him in the Japan game lol.

Walcott still has time. Just remember just how bad Joe Cole was during his first handfull of England Caps.
