People who are laughing at the comments regarding Heskey's performance (as a good one) need to watch football more carefully. He DID play well but unfortunately when he had the one chance to put us 2-1 up he missed it. Against the top teams like Brazil and Spain you simply HAVE to finish those opportunities or at least force the keeper into a remarkable save.

The players who can hold their heads high are Gerrard, Heskey, Terry and Johnson (going forward)

Oh, if you ever needed evidence of why Carragher shouldn't be playing RB (yes i know he was playing CB but found himself in a full back position) just ask Altidore.

I agree with everything you just said, particularly regarding Heskey. Although he should have scored when he was clean through, he created good chances for others players all night, and set up Stevie G's goal.

as a outsider looking at usa and england game,was poor from both sides,usa did enough too bring a draw and luck was on there side ,england had good few chances to win but didnt,for so much quality players on england side ,was surprised they didnt do better,would subspect they do better in there next few games,Heskey did good but not sdame player as before,when he was one on one with usa keeper,he should have put it over,rooney had mixed game,had couple of chances ,as far as gerard and lampard seem not good together and also gerard was better early in first half but not as good in second half,midfield seems not too be working well,england defence was good ,but odd mistakes,so sort out midfield
if england played againist a better team,they be in big trouble,not sure which world cup but ,england started poor and picked up pace and think they will again,not sure if england are good enough too win world cup 2010,,but strange things happen

cole (where the hell was he tonight ? ) , a.johnson , downing could all fill the role better and do it every week for decent premiership teams. all of them are good crossers of the ball and can still run at the defence. yet capello doesnt give any of them a chance throughout the whole buildup/qualifying and then gives them 20 minutes before writing them off

Again, i dont expect a striker to score every 1v1 but heskey didnt even do the basic things correctly infront of goal. And hasnt done so for years now.
Yeah he offers some link up play (When hes not offside) but as a striker he fails!

You have to feel for Green, it was a case of one step to his right and he would have had his whole body behind it.

Goalkeepers make mistakes fact, but the other 10 players failed to impress either.

In a way it makes England's performance worse - that wasn't even against a strong USA, they had a pretty poor game themselves and given that, England really should have controlled the game.

Of course...England really should have sewn up the game...theres no excuse goalkeeping or not. England had far more chances on goal but for some odd reason just couldnt put another one in the back of the net.

Personally i dont think this is a good result for England really....Algeria are a tough team to beat as well...going to be an interesting next set of games thats for sure.

Yes he is crap but sometimes you need to grind out 1-0 wins and loltastic green in goal we had no chance. He got lucky with that near post save too.

Several times Lennon got in behind the defense but failed to show any composure with his crosses.

At the highest level you can't just aimlessly cut the ball back, you've got to look to pick a player out.

Some were like that, others were pumped into the danger zone. Strikers should be attacking those. Instead, Rooney was hidden behind a defender all game. If Capello really does pick based on form, Rooney wouldn't start the next game. But because of the hype built up around him now, it's a cert.
