People need to remember what happened last time they did this.

I think we need the right man for the job. Capello can barely speak basic english.

He is a good manager, but I think we need to look at our whole league setup. I'm not concerned who the next manager, as recent decades have generally hinted that the manager makes little difference.

Who the hell is going to replace Terry, A. Cole, King, Carragher, Upson, Barry, Lampard, Gerrard, Heskey.

There is no English talented youth playing in the prem. I can't even see us qualify for tournies past 2014. We will be about the level of talent as Scotland and Republic of Ireland.

International football in England is dead.

People need to start realising we were not beaten by some elite of football this generation of german side is very average that is the true shocker here beaten 4-1 by an average side.

rooney isn't world class at all that has been utterly proven he's a slow plodding pedictable lump that's lucky enough to be playing around true world class players this is all.

Fancy naming these 'world class' players that have been playing with him last year at united in which he scored 30+ goals?

So, essentially you believe that to be World Class, you need to play in the World Cup?

Rooney did. And it's arguable whether his performance was due to his team mates or not so going on League performance then, you could say he is World Class.

Pointless post ahead - George Best was easily world class and never played in a World Cup :p same story with Alfredo di Stefano.

But you can say the same about Rooney. Messi has games where he is completely out of it too.

Even though Rooney had a **** world cup, England as a team were as bad if not worse. He was barely getting the ball, no support when he had the ball - something he is not used to with Man Utd.

England are just **** :p

I agree 100% with you that he didn't get any service, and to be totally honest nobody let him anywhere near the ball, but that's what comes with being touted as being one of the worlds best players - he was marked out of the game and given 0 space

I actually DO think Rooney is an excellent player, bagging that many goals in one season is incredible but he's just constantly failed to perform on the world stage, I wish he would!

This is what particularly annoys me tbh.

...in what is said to be the best league in the world...

The other leagues can't be all that special if that's true.

It's not all ManU vs Arsenal or Chelsea vs Liverpool. Most of the games it's ManU vs West Ham or Arsenal vs Stoke.

I wonder how teams like those (Stoke, West Ham) would fare in foreign first division leagues. Relegated after one season?

Reason Messi struggles in games, he's man marked constantly and hassled by 3 to 4 players when he get's the ball,
but the guy still manages to pull a spark of brilliance from nowhere which other players can only dream of doing,
that's why he's world class, Ronney however good you think he is can't do this.

Rooney's touch was the worst I've ever seen from him.

He was trying too hard mate. That said, the germans were on him like glue, but thats the weakness in his game. For utd more often than not there's space and composure, so even when he's got the red between his eyes if utd are down a goal, he's not being forced to do it at a strech.

Shame realy, any cup competition requires a talisman, Rooney would/should have been that, but with the drought on a couple of bad games, and that width of the post in the last game, he wasn't that this time around.

Had he scored in the last game, i reckon we'd had seen a different player today, less head down, more eyes looking up... that'd helped defoe and anyone around the edge of the box.

What is complete bllx however is the crap from shearer and co after the game.. aka the 'not fit' mummbles.

Lastly though, the defence was a shocker, upson and johnson should have been nowhere near that team. Yes Johnson looks good when he's going forward against weaker teams, but before today he's been shown up for being shockingly BAD at defending the man, and working within a drilled defensive unit... despite his age and not being near what he once was, Gary Neville should have been there.

Why no Dawson, id love to see capello explain why he had no intrests in the guy:/

He shows it on a regular basis in what is said to be the best league in the world + the competitions that come with it. For whatever reason, very few of these English players can bring their form to the international field. And I don't buy into this 'the foreigners make them look good' business. If Rooney played that badly for United, Ferguson would have the balls to drop him.

No, Rooney was inconsistent last year. He only turned it on for a couple of months, at the start he was ABYSMAL.

Just another overhyped english player.

Doubt it, the lower teams in spanish first division are truly appaling and make Upson look like a quality defender.

I had a cheeky £100 bet on Germany to Qualify at 6/5. £120 profit for me. Easy money to be honest, you couldn't really see England qualifying from this match.
