World cup Final - Italy v France **SPOILERS**

Zidane is a ******* legend!

What a way to finish your career. Literally the coolest player on the planet and it's sad to see him retire.

Also, it had no impact on the game and the French will love him no matter what.

Shearer is hypocritical too. Rooney should punch Ronaldo for his part in his sending off (negligable) but Zidane is disgraceful

it'll be interesting to see how Zidane is treated by the public now. It's comparable to what Beckham did, but the difference is Beckham kicked the guy in the shin when he was on the floor. Zidane put the guy down hard and near broke his jaw in the process.
You suggesting that Zidane almost broke his own jaw by the way he charged him?

Of course it did - France were looking good until Zidane got sent off then they showed very little going forwards and were always going to play for pens

Sigh, what a shame for him to end his career that way. Probably the best player since van Basten, the stage was set for his last act to be lifting the world cup, and he throws it all away. It wasn't even as if Materazzi had had a sly kick at him or anything, it was just a word in the ear like you hear on grounds all over the continent every weekend. You gotta be thick skinned and just take the verbals.

P.S: NEDVED OFF!!

Uh just a totally random question but figuring that most people who watched the final would be posting here -

what was the bit of classical music/opera right at the end as soon as the titles ran across the screen? I don't mean the weird bit before hand with the spoken words...

oooh cars are beeping around in Liverpool!

lol how about "its a good job he nutted the guy where most people dont nut guys because lets face it....if Zidane hit the guys jaw with that much force, he would have smashed it to pieces. that better? can we continue now? :)

no. in all fairness the other guy seemed to drop like a tonne of bricks. i dont know if Zidane did hit him that hard. Doesnt make any difference though, he still made idiot of himself.

You couldn't be further from the truth :)

It is of absolutely no consequence what the words were.

Damn find myself agreeing with Gilly again.

Must resist.........................

In any sport you always get people winding you up. Like Martin O'Neill said "It only happens ohhhhhh once every 15 seconds or so people giving you the verbals"

At least one of the Worst World cup tournaments is now over.

Well done Italia

I'm actually very happy that Italy won it, after what Zidane did, Italy deserved it. Zidanes the biggest idiot, what a way to end his career. I thoguht he was a good sport aswell, guess I was wrong

That shows you don't watch much football, Zidane has been sent off for headbutts before and sent off quite a few times, he doesn't just sit back and let himself get bullied.

thats bit of a daft point, he did let himself get bullies as he took the bait and ended up getting himself sent off? the best way to silence them is to put the ball in net :)

Ah, well if you'd said you were just agreeing with me then I'd have known what you were on about.

Shortly before your comment I said much the same thing in readable language :p which is why when you mentioned it in a difficult to read post I questioned it as it was phrased as if to be arguing my point.

Umm.. I didn't say it's the best option, I'm just saying that people are wrong to say he's calm and placid, he does sometimes lose his head.

Because he has just lost the World Cup for France ;)

Hardly, how are you so sure they would score in the last 7 mins if they hadn't scored since the 5th minute? lol

Just because he gets sent off everyone says "ooo... he's lost them the World Cup", if you look at the situation, he doesn't really change the game that much.

He was the best player on the French team, and about the only person who looked liked he was gonna score for them, plus he's a penalty taker. he didn't do France any favours, but a massive one for Italy :)

10 minutes left mate, hardly affected the game at all.

I read between the lines like just about everyone else did.
