World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

i bought my dell 34 DWF for £670 love it so far had it a month????? no burn in yet. I do work from home on it and game, but i do the pixel refresh every time it asks, get up and go make a coffee.

Why not just let it do it when you turn the monitor off or when it goes into standby? That's what I have done almost since day one well over a year ago.

Wow. £710 would be amazing. I paid full price for mine on release. Maybe the best £929 I've ever spent. It still blows me away 9 months later.

Re pixel refresh: I just set my monitor to sleep after 1 minute. So whenever I afk, it will do its pixel refresh if it wants to. It takes 1 minute after it goes on standby for the pixel refresh to start. You can tell if it's doing it, cos the power button/light will be flashing green (by default). It's really a non issue for me. I let it do it if I afk, but I dont go out of my way to make it happen.

I do hide my task bar, all shortcuts on the task bar, and a black desktop. I used to love having my screenshots as wallpaper, but I've never experience blacks like this before, and I love it when the whole screen is as black as a thousand nights, with just my mouse icon showing. I'm just embracing these wonderful blacks. And who knows, maybe it will last a bit longer with it going to sleep after 1 min and nothing on the desktop. These OLEDs are supposed to lose their brightness with time/use? Idk. I love this monitor though :)

Edit: My monitor never asks me to do a pixel refresh. Maybe I turned off the notification somewhere. But it never imposes on me if I should be playing for several hours.

Mine asks all the time, it drives me crazy also it won’t do a pixel or panel refresh with the pc off as I can’t get into the osd. Firmware is v2 anyone else have similar issues? Did it with a 3080 and 4090.

if you factory reset it, then you'll get the option to always ignore the pixel refresh popup when it 1st pops up again (MOB102 on DW anyway)

Also, if you panel refresh before turning off pc, then it turns the monitor off for you when done

OK, so let's say that, thanks to this thread, I'm convinced that I want an OLED for gaming, but also WFH full-time as a software developer (so don't want eye-strain due to unclear text) and I'm already on a 34" Ultrawide and ideally would like something a little bigger (or I may stuggle to convince myself it's a true upgrade! lol) and tend to keep my monitors for quite a while (and wouldn't enjoy a better model coming out just after I'd bought).

What should I do???

Are there new OLED monitors coming out soon? 38 or 40" maybe? 4 or 5K?! No budget limit really, so long as it's worth it.

Not at all the OLED was fine but I have run 2 screens for so long that when I picked up ultrawides I kept on dual screening. It’s handy being able to have 3 documents open on screen and still have a spare screen for other stuff

Right, OK, well that assuages my fears somewhat. Thanks. I think I prefer one large screen to 2 or more, but it's an avenue I hadn't considered, so I will consider it!

I use my ALienware for wfh pretty much 8-10hrs a day with no issue. I'm not a dev, but sepnd a lot of time in Excel. When i first got the screen, the text wasnt quite as sharp as my old IPS screen, but with the tweaks mentioned in this thread, it's fine now. Not sure if it's just me, but i get less eyestrain with the oled overall. It's not quite as sharp still, but the benefits outweigh.

34 inch 3440x1440 240hz QD-OLED available to purchase in early 2024

This monitor uses a 2nd Gen QD OLED panel so it's brighter than our current monitors

Also on a side note:

27 inch 2560x1440 360hz and
32 inch 3840x2160 240hz monitors will be for sale in the 2nd half of 2024.

Lastly, a 27 inch 2560x1440 480hz QD-OLED monitor will be for sale by mid 2025

Oooh. Yes please! 120hz would have done fine for me. Just want my current monitor in 4K 32" :D

Perfect timing too. My 3 year warranty comes to an end first half of 2025.

I just need Alienware to make it and be ready to jump on some discount codes that they do often.

I wonder what the pricing will be like :)

The 45" ultrawide 5120x2160 sounds good too. But that comes later.

I will likely go 32" 4K this time and maybe 45" ultrawide 3 year's after that. Nice to mix things up :D

QD-OLED 3840x2160 240hz 32" will be great tbh

Indeed. I would say I am really looking forward to it, but I am very happy with what I got so in no particular rush. But it will be a nice upgrade when the time comes.

Esp if they stick with a semi-gloss coating

What does the current Alienware have? Is it not semi glossy or something like that?

I honestly would not mind full glossy as I have blinds and can control light in my office.
