World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

My preference for SDR luminance was based on an industry standards recognised brightness of around 100 cd/m2 :p

I'm at 56 brightness now though which targets closer to 120cd/m2 which is the upper end of the recognised standards for productivity and editing and has zero eye strain in dim lighting. In my line of work my eyes need to be looked after, they make me money after all

Is there a way to measure this accurately using software or a device?

My screens are definitely over bright as i could tell after comparing the VA's to my Oled, the VA's were way too bright.

I use pretty much the same as you but I've also found this reshade from Nexusmods to help nicely with black levels - https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/284

It does nothing but fix black levels, Doesn't add any weird filters or anything.

Tried this mod last night, works a treat! Thanks for the advice.

Paired it with the Vignette mod that gets rid of the dark border and Chromatic aberration, the picture is a lot cleaner.

I've now got the itch to replace the other VA with a nice IPS.

Been looking at this Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor - AW2724DM 165hz (180hz OC) to go with it. Any other suggestions?

Can use my points and a code for a hefty discount as well if i go with Dell.

Bit baffled by Dell's customer service at times. I arranged a return for my monitor as the text clarity was an issue. They collected it and sent me another box for a completely different office monitor, then said it was a courier error and had no record of it. Then the courier said it was from Apple...

As it was an unordered item, I reported the issue and Dell couldn't find it and told me it might be a Christmas present and to keep the item.

Opened it up and it's empty.

I dont know why but i was expecting a really good Xmassy ending, only for you to say it was an empty box lol .

The disappointment...

i just bought a QD-OLEd alienware for 500 quid. nex to my lg WOLED 27" not much difference in Qaulity

but Text fringing is far worse on the alienware, LG has almost none
but it is far brighter

Ive not really noticed the fuzzy text especially in HDR mode. I mean i have to squint real hard to see it.

"Looks like the same problem" I hear you say... Well, yes, it would appear you are correct.... but this is not the same monitor! :(

I had the original replaced by Dell earlier in the year due to that line, so what are the odds of the replacement having the exact same problem in exactly the same place? I'm guessing slim to none, so what the hell is causing it?!

A pixel refresh gets rid of it, which does suggest a monitor issue, but it seems really unlikely to me - could a faulty GPU or even DP cable cause this?

I'm almost certain it's NOT screen burn, as A) it doesn't align with any static UI elements on any of the applications I frequently use, and B) it's the full height of the screen, including where the title bar is of any window which would be open.

Edit: What's interesting is that it's taken exactly the same length of time to appear.

Got the first monitor 21st April 2022, issue appeared ~16 January 2023, so 9 months (270 days to be exact).
Current monitor is from 26 January 2023, appeared 1 November 2023, so again, about 9 months (279 days).

Very strange!

Reading the previous few pages and it seems the DW has been discontinued, and potentially the DWF is actually the better option?

I have an AMD card, and it's quite likely my next one will be too - if I have to RMA this one as well, is it worth seeing if they will give me a DWF in exchange, or is it purely the fact the DWF is cheaper which makes it worthwhile, and the DW is the better monitor overall?

It's back again, and worse this time, I have 3 lines now :(

Difficult to capture on camera
