World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Well i am not happy. I just had it turn up with quite a bit of water damage to the box.

I have gotten everything out of it to air. it appears that little to no water got into the interior of the thing. But i am not chancing turning it on for a while.

Looks like it got sat in a puddle or something.

I'll take it

Dam that sucks :/

I'd say if there is no sign of water ingress then the monitor inside is good. All that polystyrene will do a job of bouncing away water

The monitor and all of the packaging around it appears to be fine. A little bit of moisture on part of the interior cardboard. But i am deffinetly getting on to dell about it.

You don't expect a product you paid this much for to turn up in this state.

Everything inside looks fine though.

Guy on chat said I lost 2 months by that quote link failing haha, ah well should have it before start of august if that date is right.....

I am sure a few more will get processed fine but I am in my overdraft (cause of previous mentioned furniture order) so that will cost me every day for no product till payday. If I had the product to use I wouldn't be bothered by that cost. I am not being overdrawn for 10 days for no reason.
Emm dont buy stuff you cant afford ??

I got an email back saying they will offer me 5% off, not 10% like some here got offered as a gesture of goodwill:(

Still, at least that bring my order down to £804 for the one that is meant to arrive “tomorrow”.

I may still ring them after I get it and try my luck again and maybe get 10% offered. Seems to all depend on who you speak to which is weird.

He already explained how he ended up in that situation and we already had someone saying what you said. Also the advice is kind of obvious no? Not like he is going to read it and say oh yea, never thought of that, thanks man! :p

You only just popped out of your secret base a day or two ago and already offering sage advice like this, bodes well for us

Emm... read the previous posts?

That water damage looks pretty poor, I'd definitely be pushing for a discount, if nothing else that's going to potentially hurt resell value a few years down the line.

I'd take a lot of what they say with a pinch of salt I think, my order from 08:05 still has no movement, and the guy I spoke to could offer no ETA except to say I should hear back within 24-48 hours with a new ETA.

I did point out that orders after mine were being shipped out, best they can do is 10% goodwill discount once received, which means price paid will be competitive (I didn't get the uber discounts originally so I paid £902).

£902 with 10% back should be about £810, then £100 back from Amex will make total price paid £710~.

Likely to be a wait though :(

Oof that sounds pretty **** tbh. Might have a moan on chat if mine gets pushed back, but not holding out much hope for further discounts :s

@Mauller what time was your order confirmed out of interest and do you mind sharing your order number?

Ermm don't judge someone with no idea on the rest of their financials hey. Especially as above can be seen. Not exactly a good start to your positing here hey.

Edit: you ever user a credit card? Okay don't cause you can't afford it. Got a mortgage, don't you can't afford it. Etc.

Utilising an overdraft as a safety-net because of costs in particular month isn't an issue. Living in an overdraft and paying high interest constantly is bad. Short term overspends are literally what overdrafts are meant for. People using payday loans and such are an issue though.

The problem being I cannot get credit enough for a credit card because of ex tenants disappearing owing over £8k in back rent to me which I will never get back now. From all accounts they moved abroad. So my credit got destroyed and had a mortgage and bills to cover that couldn't. Then I left my job in Feb 2020 to have 3 months of with my 3yr old son and Covid hit and suddenly meant zero work or jobs employing in my sector.

That all adds up to not really getting good credit so am cash rich month to month but will be 3yr + before my credit back to what it was prior to all that of 2018-2020. Means I normally save for a few months and generally I have £3-£4k spare in account at any point but this month was a large spend of furniture, windows and doors and left those funds depleted. In 10 days I could afford to buy 2 monitors at retail £1099 just fine and still have spare monies again to build up my spending funds rather than use the overdraft again.

Just bad timing. If it wasn't for the case of knowing these were going to sell out for months I would have just waited the 10 days and been fine but that isn't the situation.

Still sitting at confirmed only but showing as ETA as tomorrow. Well guess we'll see.

I still can cancel which appears to be a bad sign. Sadly.

How does Amex work, does the price you pay go less, or do you get it back later?

Within Amex App there are offers from various retailer, so Dell has an offer on, you need to claim it before it expires and use it in that period. They go from everything from Urban Outfitters to The White Company to random smaller shops. You need to check regularly to see what is on offer.

That's one way, the one I saw for Dell isn't £100 though, it was more like £20 or something?

Same here. I had my 1.4K early order in production when I cancelled it after ending up with 3 purchases. Seems I may have shot myself in the foot with that one as I may have had it delivered today and either got them to honour the discounted price or enjoyed it for a week and sent it back

Hope to get some honest feedback on these monitors as people start to receive them tomorrow. I've got an Alienware 27" which I'm itching to change but want to make sure the upgrade is worth £800.

You need to add it in the offers section to activate it. States "Spend £750 or more, get £100 back". The money will be taken out and the £100 will be credited when it's all been processed, might take a few days.

The website is still allowing me to add to basket, showing as 28.07.2022 delivery date for now for these orders, if they go through.

Around £804 I think.
Thanks.

Email somewhat typed up and ready to go for scenario 1 so fingers crossed! :D

Scenario 1:

- when my full priced one arrives on Friday and the discounted one is still on confirmed status or/and has been pushed back

= will try to contact dell to see if they can provide all the discounts on the full priced one that has arrived in order to bring it down to the price of my discounted one i.e. £847 or cheaper if possible with the extra 5-10%..... and if all goes well/smoothly, then just cancel the order still waiting to be shipped
