***World of Warcraft : Warlords of Draenor***

Well I don't know if you remember me and Starks from the old BF2 Bad Company days on the Xbox 360 where we played together along with Big Jimmy Boy, but we play on Silvermoon and almost exlusively PvP, although Starks has only just returned a few weeks ago to see how the game is now. You're most welcome to join us there if you wish :)

Only issue with Silvermoon is that the world PvP is non-existent :(

Ahhhh, nice, LOTS on Frostman, full PVP server. Only issue is... Barely any horde 86% alliance to be exact :( Silvermoon is even worse at 97%!!!!!!!!!!!

Heroics don't feel that much harder to me, the only one I always seem to have difficulty with is that boss on the bridge in **** mines with the massive boulders that stun you, no matter what everyone seems to get hit by them :D

they come back in the same order as they start.
It's not rocket science if you pay attention but omg the dps meter I can't stop casting my spell attitude just makes people fail.

wish it was like tbc when you had to avoid boss mechanics and cc adds or wipe

It will never be as good as TBC again the game needs to accommodate the people that just want to PEWPEW and not care. I pride myself in being the person who takes the least damage in an encounter. Some can't be avoided fair enough but even see so many people not using mitigation abilities anymore:(

I really miss the TBC heroic style where if you cocked a pull or didn't interrupt something you were in trouble. A lot of leeway for errors now.

Yeah there seemed to be a lot more room for personal skill back then or at least you felt rewarded for trying new things. If it was going pear or the pull was hard you'd have things like mages or shammies kiting, rogues in desperation gouging and running, waiting for kidney shot or blind cooldown to incapacitate the mobs for a bit longer while the tank (pre aoe-lol abilities except the odd pally once they got geared later in the expansion) tried to hold a pack of 7 mobs on an overpull while a couple of caster mobs pounded the healer. A mob would break sheep at the wrong moment and sap would wear off at the same time, adding to the fun. Good times when you pulled it off.

The 360 degree cleaves which were a very early feature of tbc heroics were well shot of though.

Definitely more and more rude dimwits in this game. I've taken to logging on around 10pm at night when all the kids are in bed and seem to get a better crowd.

Couldn't agree more. The League of Legends community seems to have drifted over

General chat is so full of "hilarious" anal "jokes". That was so TBC... Play on Kazzak here.

Wait, people still play with general chat on? :p
That was one of the first things I did when I came bag and fiddled around with my UI, general and trade chat = off.

Challenge modes are defintely where the heroics should have been to start with. Feel so squishy tanking them on my warrior and if you're going for silver/gold you're going to be mass-pulling and kiting your heart out!

Spent most of last evening farming Botani mobs to spawn the invasion at my garrison, finally popped after about 3 hours of mindless slaughter.... Did get gold in it, but to be fair Botani one is the easiest to get gold in. No shiny purple loot though, just resources and apexi crystals :(

Went balls first into heroics as a tank.
The first run was, quite frankly, catastrophic. I started reading the dungeon journal before each run immediately after that. :p

I still kind of feel like I'm just smashing buttons, I never seem to have a death strike when I really need it although plague leech and blood tap has helped with that. I think it's more the healers being awesome rather than me being a decent tank that's getting us through, haha.

Picked up a few upgrades though, including a war forged ring.

In other news, I sure you used to get a free faction change when transferring realms? It seems you don't now. £39 to get onto silvermoon!! :o

Almost worth trying a new character and boosting it!

When I tried tanking on my DK it felt like I was just smashing buttons to be honest... I don't think it is an agro race any more as you really will keep agro after just a few hits thanks to game mechanics (see omen after you pull).

The thing I tried was to take a step back and see what I could get away with (i.e. doing as little as possible so all my resources were available to me). You should then get a feel for the "rotation" and what you add in to the mix.

I really don't want to level again any time soon, haha. I'll probably just suck it up. I don't mind too much as long as there's no queues when I get there.

Yea I did try just sitting back for a while, keeping threat really is easy now. I felt like I should have been doing something though so I just started smashing buttons again. :p I guess my job is to make the healers job as easy as possible now. I keep forgetting that DKs have such short mitigation cooldowns and I guess they should be part of most pulls.

I really need a decent castbar addon as well as it's difficult to keep track of when mobs are going to attack. Any suggestions?

The thing that amazed me was the sheer amount of active CD's that need to be managed for blood tanking, especially considering this is supposed to be the de-cluttered expansion lol.

Bone Shield
Death Pact (or other talent form this tier)
Icebound Fortitude
Lichborne (if talented)
Rune Tap
Dancing Rune Weapon
Death Strike itself (needs to be manage not spammed)
Vampiric Blood
Empire Rune Weapon (if glyphed).

And also:

Health Stone
Draenei racial (if Draenei)

Just lol.

If you want a feel for TBC heroics then challenge modes aren't far off tbh.

Hmm challenge modes aren't easy but they're a good bit off TBC heroics pre-nerf. With the challenge modes I've found that the bosses are just DPS races in the large part. So you can either do it or you can't. We did Everbloom and the 3 amigos is a DPS race to kill the healer before you run out of interrupts on the briarskin (other mob) and the heal spell on the healer.

Mage again was a DPS race to kill it before you HAVE to switch it to arcane.

Yes, there are a few. :p

Guys, been playing a little while now having got my character to lvl 100 but now looking for things to do other than the heroics which i am doing but the queues are just so long so thought i'd give pvp a bash, but struggling with just the basics.

How do you actually capture a point? I was stood where i thought i needed to be but couldnt see any prompt or the likes to say it was being captured?

Also i take it you would set up armour sets, so you have 1 for pvp and 1 for pve?

Is there specific pvp gear you should be looking to spend your honour points on? Ive got 2 pvp items so far but not sure exactly what i should be buying to replace the old gear.

Played a few battlegrounds last night and also had a look at Ashran but seemed a bit lost in the latter.

For capturing points you have to click the flag.

Yes, PvP gear should be used over PvE gear, at least so far anyway, I know before the expansion some classes were using PvE gear in PvP as it gave them better numbers.

For PvP gear just like PvE gear, look up the stat priority for your class and focus on getting those secondary stats.

The PVP gear is pretty well sorted this expan. The honor stuff is i620 however it scales like heirlooms, and when engaged in PVP it will change to 670 (may be 675). This makes PVE gear worthless in PVP by comparison.
