Worst car I've ever driven

You drive 40k miles per year in a 1.2 litre Corsa? Are you into S&M as well?

Sorry, didn't make it clear. The bulk of my mileage is in a works berlingo. Now *that* is uncomfortable! The corsa is my private runabout. The 40k was about the comment on not driving properly, the mention of the Saabw as that I do have a proper car as well :)

Would I fix the problem, if I were to move into your house, with an afternoon, a friend and a lumphammer or is it jammed in between two properties? :D

Jammed between the side of my house and a dividing wall between two properties (not my wall unfortunately). I'm lucky, at least I can drive forwards into my driveway and open the drivers door (as long as I don't drive to far forwards, short cars only!).

Only a few people actually use their driveways on my side of the road because either:
1) The drives are just too narrow for most family sized modern cars,
2) They can't be bothered.

Hence the road is now clogged with parked cars :( When I had the MR2 (in the drive) and the Honda for a while I had to park in front of the house next door, occupied by a lovely old dear who didn't have a car and didn't mind at all. Her next door neighbour was a mentalist though, and frequently left messages on our cars saying it was 'his' space and that I should sell the MR2 ASAP and use my driveway to park. Didn't occur to him that his poxy Puma would easily fit down his driveway...

I got really pee'd off after one such message and rang their door to have a word, and it was answered by a woman who looked much younger than the numpty so quite innocently I asked if I could speak to her dad. Turns out it was his wife :D:D

The obvious solution is to change the house of course ;) But not just now.

Yea some people can't park though, or manuever.

Stops idiots dinging your doors/wings in though :D That would be forgivable if it was an Elise or something ;)

As I've mentioned before - you haven't lived till you've driven the Chevrolet Matiz 0.8 Automatic. 0-60 in 21 seconds even now in 2008.

However if you want truly appalling figures how about the 2.3 Diesel Nissan Serena? Only ever been a passenger but it was truly lethargic.

0-60 in 27.8 seconds and a top speed of 84mph. How did they manage to extract just 74bhp from a 2.3 Diesel?

Economical though? Nope: 30.4mpg on the combined cycle

Heavy then? Nope: 1500kg

Really old then? Nope made in 1995-2001

What a bad car...

Woohoo, had one as a hire car last year in Rhodes - whilst it was a manual, no one gear seemed distinguishable from any of the others - and it still sounded like a mix between an angle grinder and a cement mixer :D

Mid-engined though. :p :D

I drove a Manuel Corsa made in 95(i think) Not only was it guttless but it felt like it was going to fall over every time you had to turn:p

Yet the same slow HGV's still spend hour after hour after hour performing the world's slowest overtaking manouvres, pointlessly half the time, while holding up half the planet behind them ;) ;). Sorry, couldn't resist, done to death etc etc.

For instance I challenge you to get your 5 series down my driveway. You'd better have the number of a decent body shop on speed dial though...

My driveway is similarly narrow but the wing mirrors in I can still get the A6 down it. My friend scraped his shiny 07 Focus trying to do the same though ;).

Slowest thing I ever drove was a non-turbo LWB Hi-top transit (80bhp?) with 2 guys, loads of kit and 1000KG in the back. After that I don't think I could ever call a car slow again :D.

Corsa's do have some uses. They make good lightweight FWD 1/4 Mile Cars.

11.9 Seconds and road legal.

However in standard form, I agree they do suck.

The guy who sits opposite me at work has just picked up a 5-door diesel Corsa last week, brand new.

Are they still as crap as whey were?

No they are better, but there is still no excuse for it. Most people who buy Corsas tend to be so mind bendingly short sighted and a bit dim that he's probably convinced himself he needs to buy a Corsa becuase he could never afford a nice car like, for example, your Cupra R. They all tend to think that.

They dont bother to check the prices of better cars, they simply assume they cant afford them.

I saw a brand new Corsa - diesel - yesterday, driving around with a poorly fitted massive front aftermarket bumper replete with mesh, roof spoiler, shopping list down the side and a .....bonnet scoop.

Everything else (including the wheels and exhaust) was standard.

I actually burst out laughing as it drove past, realising what it was, then died a little inside. :( .........why are people still doing things like that!

Priceless

1.1 M reg Fiesta for me (with a hole in it's engine).

0-60 in around 19 seconds. Drop it down a gear and the speedo still drops lol.

Hated the cold so would never start.

Yuck!

Corsa's are pretty crap too. The Corsa A well, what does it have going for it? The 1.2 and 1.4 are pretty much the same bhp are they not? They don't handle at all and understeer like mad. It's rivals at the time were hardly the best though. A 1.1 106 body rolls for fun but is pretty nippy in a straight line so it has something going for it!!
