WWIIO: Battleground Europe

@ funk:

No bailing yet. It's planned, but it's around the middle of a long list. For now you are your vehicle, you're tied to it for as long as that spawn. You can download keyboard/mouse keymappers that are excellent. Just search the barracks forum for "Sgt Spoons keymapper"

@Longbow:

You have to be at the right village :)
The towns whose names have flashing red boxes around them on the map are the ones with Attack Orders on them, you can cap the depots in those towns. Best thing to do for now is look for active missions. Ask around on side and someone will direct you to a good town fight.

@neo:

Squads are permenant but you can switch whenever you want between them. I'll be on again this evening, ill post here when i go on again.

Im on now for a few hours for any of you who fancy trying Axis.

Tbh, even if youre currently playing Allied it might be worth popping across for me to teach you how towns etc. all work.

Holy ****, I haven't bothered with this game since 2004 or so, I ordered it from the US when it first came out in 2001, was so excited at the concept but didn't really like driving somewhere for 30 minutes etc, nice to see they've added so much. Those shots of the ship (presumably player controlled) loading tanks (player controlled) are out of this world, what other game could you see that in?

Exactly :)

I'm not sure if they had forward bases or mobile spawn points in '04 but the nearest battle is never more then a 5 minute drive away and there's almost always msps near to town so it's a lot easier to get into battles then it was.

I'm tempted to start playing this again after reading this thread.
I too ordered it from the US when it was released, and played it until around 2005. It looks like there have been some good improvement since then :).

It has been vastly improved since release. Personally, I was an avid WarBirds player and was waiting for WW2OL to be released for ~2 years, helping to run fan sites previewing the game etc. Then, when it was released I found it a huge disappointment. Imo, the state the game is in now was how it should have been released and was what I was hoping for all those years ago.

Is there any way to report a player that keeps hassling me? His name is "Sixpence" and as im new and can get lost in what im supposed to do some times, he thinks im a second account spying for the Axis lol :confused: He is quite a high rank so he seems to be well known and he's making my play time a mysery by messaging me all the time and telling other people to ignore me! :(

I'm a year one player so have subscribed for six years now. Fantastic game that has no equal (only the Rats are mad enough to try and pull off something like this ;) ).

For those asking about controllers, you can use just about anything for anything. I use a PS2 controller for tanks, as an example, using the analogue sticks for independent track control. You can do the same using 2 joysticks.

I'll get in touch with him. What's your ingame name?

EDIT: Okay I sent him a pm asking him to stop, if I see him in game I'll tell him there too.

no problem mate. If you're able to get on now I'll come on and give you a quick training session and get you into a good fight :)

Have been playing this for the last 3 nights now. Jeez there is a lot to learn! I have only managed 2 kills, a couple of assists and one cap so far and I've another 60odd % to go before getting to level 2. I'm loving jumping out of planes into missions but it is frustrating that you can spend very long periods of time without really seeing any action. I hate the graphics but I am beginning to get what this game is all about and I am appreciating that. The most annoying thing i've xperienced so far was shooting someone from point blank and he did not die, it was infact me who kopped it! There is definately something about this game though as it keeps bringing me back.

It gets you like that Yozz. Yea close quarters lag is quite bad. When you get more experienced at finding the right fights you'll be able to hop back and forward between the hotspots as they cool down or heat up.
