X-Factor 2011

That would go some way to explain it: desperation for fame.

Though, if that is the case, why do they have to bring a hard luck story with them? Doesn't it just boil down to greed and the desire for fame/fortune?

Its not fame though is it.

Joe Mcelderberry has done what since?

Can you even remember the others?

In fact out of all the series a few have become stable artists.

This is good

Doesn't matter what the end result is - they believe that it will give them fame. Even if it doesn't go that far, many people are desperate for their 15 minutes of fame - you see it on live tv coverage all the time when a random member of the public comes across a TV camera. I don't get it myself.

For Joe McElderry, his chart career has failed, however, he has managed to get a job in theatre/musicals.

As CRave said though, when they appear on XFactor and make the finals (or even win), they are expecting and hoping for big things. The aim is to be on TV, in front of millions, on the biggest show on UK TV. To goto movie premiers and mixing it with other "celebrities".

XFactor and talent shows are all about fame/fortune.

That australian Xfactor looks really good actually, im sick of the UK as its turned into a comedy show, the australian one seems to at least have some respect for itself still and the panel looks really good. Mel B hot anyone???

Surely though, the early rounds of the XFactor are supposed to be comedy...that's the whole point. That's where the entertainment factor is.

Then, once we hit the live shows, it gets very serious.

I personally prefer the early auditions as they have great comedy value.

And just to add, it has been a long time since I laughed so hard.
The older chap (very lean) who auditioned was brilliantly funny.
My throat is still hurting from watching that audition from yesterday.

Here's the youtube clip:

They have way less 'comedy' moments also in the earlier rounds.
In fact they might not have any now I think about it.

Think its a bit bad to treat people this way after letting them going through to boot camp and then sending them home before even letting them perform again.

Why say yes in the first place?

I agree. They should've been sent something in the post, rather than making them travel all the way down to the audition day, only to be told ... "sorry".

It was answered on the show but the reason they gave was crap.

Thats my point.

And I don't usually but my daughter like it so I watched it with her

Having said that it is a guilty pleasure when we get to the final stages :o
