X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

take the pc to a mates house and let it connect there, once it is you can set it to of line mode and it will always have the option to again when you bring it back. (iirc it needs to be set into off-line once when it actually has a connection to work in future).

IIRC you can disable all your network connections and then it'll start in Offline mode, you can re-enable the, once this is done. Steam seems to see any network connection as a working internet, silly design.

the race of marines generally makes no difference. althou sometimes they might not bought a ship of thier own race.

training time usually depends on what training level you send them on and what thier current stats are, the higher they are, the long and more expensive training becomes

One thing to remember with the marines is if theyre from a species that you're hostile to any turrets/ships that you've got set to target enemies automatically might end up shooting them (this may have been a bug and fixed but i dunno).

I did what you suggested Tefal, got that advanced eclipse, ran a few missions and got the trade software mk3 for my mercury, its out doing sector trading now.

I just managed to get a mercury tanker for about 90k, but this brings the question, what is the difference between the Mercury and the Mercury tanker, also I see all these different variations of the same ships at the shipyard, such as Nova L, Nova S etc, what are the main differences between them?

excellent sector to start your sector trader is empires edge will have him to to the lvl needed for a ut in no time at all.

That advanced eclipse served me well :D

May it do the same for you :p

In the ship yard the S M L letter don;t mean what i first thoguh (small medium large in container terms) they actually mean what hey come with.

ie the s wil have say 1 mj sheidl the l with have 3x5mg etc.

But if you select the ship on the shipyard list and press I it will give you the full information for it so you can compare then and see if it's worth it.

heres a list of the stats of the differnt mercuarys

http://eng.x3tc.ru/x3_tc_ships/list.php?s=mercury&r=0

But just press i with them selected on the list and it will tell you the specifics of that ship.

Yup, always try to get the L version. Mistral Superfreighter Ls are where its at though - great speed, HUGE cargo space and excellent shielding :)

Thanks for the help Tefal, so to make sure I udnerstand this, the S M L refers to the shielding bundled with the ship?

So if I buy a mercury S I can still upgrade it to the stats of the Mercury L but by buying the bigger shields and possibly other upgrades?

Also just looking at that link you posted I can see my Mercury Tanker is the smaller of the two types. They all have 1 turret slot, is the turret slot an automated gun?

Always try to get the Ls. But yes, you can still upgrade them - just can be difficult to find the equipment sometimes. Also, dont buy a turret for an automated trader. You want them to runaway, not get into a fight!

geez you can't turn your back in this game can you. i mined a load of silicon etc, which took a fair old while, then sent my freighters off to the customer to sell up, & by the time they arrived in the customers sector it had been utterly annihilated, the place is littered with station & ship debris. i don't know who did what to whom but they did one hell of a thorough job as all life has ceased in Presidents end ( an Argon sector ). i'm now stuck with 2 freighters full of ore & in dire need of a new customer :p

Presidents End was "destroyed" sector from a start in my game but i think there are 2 or 3 stations in there.

I've got about 3.5mil atm, 2 Mercuries as UT traders and advanced eclipse as my run about. Shall i make a journey, so far i've stucked mostly to Argon sectors, and buy mistral to set up as my 3rd trader or get couple of mercuries? Also maybe a silly question but shall i always upgrade cargo space?

@CaptainRAVE Are you saying that automated traders should be totaly defendless? I was thinking of gettin couple of M5s to protect my traders on top of the turret lasers. Either buy them or repair those that i capture when defending stations. So far my traders haven't been attacked.

ahhhhhh, im gonna have to start keeping notes about where i'm trading then, or just dl a complete sector map as it'll save on the inevitable lost in space moments of some one new to the X3 universe. :D

@ bayo000 :: Just don't fit a gun on the traders or they will try and fight the pirates and lose. Better to have them run away. You can have other ships protect them if you want.

Just checked presidents end and there are no stations in there, probably never been either.

Ok i'll remove the lasers from my traders. :)

Whats the best ship to use as a universe trader?

Freighters seem to get attacked and destroyed easily. Springblossoms almost never get attacked but it takes more time to acquire them from Aldrin. Hyperions have excellent stats but are worth 40 million each.

Mistral 130 m/s, 3000-4000 cargo, 4x25mJ shield
Mistral Super Freighter, 78 m/s 12000 cargo, 6x25mJ shield
Springblossom, 360m/s, 2000 cargo, 3x200mJ shield
Hyperion Vanguard, 169 m/s, 3333 cargo, 5x200mJ shield
