X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

Is this a fan based mod, i mean a free expansion?

What versions of this game are avaiable, and which is the one to go for, also when it comes to controsl, do people keyboard and mouse it, or are you using flight joysticks?

Yes this is a free fan made expansion.

Game version....

X3:TC - Steam version
X3:TC - Retail, can be added to steam.
X3:Gold - contains TC and Reunion, Some say you cant add the copy of TC from this to steam.

All can be patched to the latest version that includes a nocd patch.

some people like KB and mouse i prefer joystick my self.

I noticed that, I figure I'll give it a couple of weeks and see what the steam sale throws up.
Might not be as good as that but the next week or so I'm unlikely to have any playtime anyway. Might as well pause.

XTC is finally released

For those that feel the universe is to static or just want a new challenge XTC (Extended TC) is here.

I posed a trailer for it a few weeks back and now you can play it in all its glory.

Completely new map. New ships and ship classes, complete overhall of the weapon systems. New races, corporations and pirate factions and lots lots more.

Downloading now, not played X3 in ages so will be fun to see how I've forgotten everything.
Was part of the mod team for a while before I completely ran out of the spare time to work on it, will be interesting to see which of the ships I worked on are in there and how much they have changed ;)

Could I ask for some hints and tips ?. I've just spent nearly 2 hours getting to grips with the games controls and interface only to lose everything because I bumped into a ship while in auto pilot. :(

I'm going to install the XTC mod as soon as it has downloaded too.

XTC is complete conversion mod none of the x3:TC plots or sectors will exist, I suggest you play vanilla TC as well as some of the plots are worth completing.

Auto pilot can be very bad at times, be very careful with it if you are in a fast very ship or a slow ship with poor turning.

If you dock at stations you can save the game, when you have a bit of cash to spare find some salvage insurance (with this you can save anytime)

Get a bigger ship that way when the auto pilot screws up its the other ship that goes boom not yours :D

Cheers for that Shadez. I noticed auto pilot was very erratic when following a ship, I think i'll just fly myself from now on using ctrl+f to speed match.

yes just fly your self if you are following (you can get the auto pilot to follow properly but its not easy), I only use the auto pilot to travel long distances with seti enabled.

If it gets close to a object seti will disengage giving you a chance for a emergency manoeuvre. It can still give some brown pants moments.

Need a wee bit of help here. I'm in the unknown sector following the pirate ship heading to the pirate base. When the ship docks I'm supposed to scan it but the base all ways deploys around 6 fighters to attack me. I get completely destroyed every time, so far 3 times. Is there some crafty way of not getting seen which I don't know about or should I be doing other stuff to get a better ship to fight with, better than the starting ship ?.

I tried to sell some missiles I found but I'm told that I'm not notorious enough, meh.

Oh and how bloody slow does that pirate ship move :( 81m/s ... ffs it takes ages to get to where it needs to be.

@SPARC iirc, what worked for me was to get sooo close to the base the pirates wouldn't fire on me. & when i say close, i don't mean 100's of, or 10's of metres, i mean a matter of metres. close enough so if you misjudge it, you will crash & burn.

Done it !

I just ran away like a big Jessie as soon as the fighters are deployed and went in a circle around the base at 40Km away. I just made sure the fighters were well away from me and then used the SETA drive and went straight for the base. Didn't realise you have to be 500m away before it will start scanning, so I got caught and killed the first time I tried this tactic. Got it in the end :D

I think you know a game is good when you spend 5 hours in one day playing it :)

Sold the M5 ship I got for free, so now I have 35K credits, I think I'll start to do some side missions to get some more cash and figure out how to get my own factory. :D

if your on the Terran start, you get 3 more m5's later on any way, along with a bunch of other ships, one of them unique ( Vidar ) never, ever, sell unique ships!. save them for when you get your own PHQ & reverse engineer them.

if you want a quick source of cash, go hunting Dukes freighters, his pilots have no discernible back bone what so ever & seem more inclined to bail. if you can get him to bail, claim the abandoned ship, break out the repair laser, then once repaired sell at the nearest friendly ship yard for maximum profitsssss.

On the subject of Duke's ships, if I remember correctly the Zeus' that spawned in the system with their main station in it were so easy to capture, few kamikaze runs to take out its support, then fly just below the lump that comes out of the bottom of them, launch your marines and cap it whilst it is completely unable to shoot you :)
I think it might have been the unknown system below Heaven's Assertion....

Was an awesome money maker :)
I used to save just before capping it and keep reloading until I capped it with decent cargo too. lol xD
