X4 Foundations

Btw for those interested, on the 3rd attempt last night managed to win the quest-race for the Engine Mod research.
First time tried to use a Asp which had available, but failed miserably by almost 40 seconds.

Then ordered a Guillemont Vanguard, put PAR MK3 travel engines thinking yeah 5800km/s would do, but again failed miserably. Ofc that didn't stop me marvel this gorgeous ship, especially how it turns the front engines to slow down.

So decided to get another ship, this time a Pegasus Vanguard with PAR MK3 travel engines and managed to win on the last couple seconds even if the ship was going over 8200km/s and didn't went out of the travel mode at all. For a moment felt the urge to shout "POWEEEER" with Clarkson's voice. :D

Haven't gone to the last 2 mod starter missions to see what is expected to do. :D

I want to try this so bad, but @ 39.99 im scared :(
I know 2 hours won't be anywhere near enough for it click either so can't really refund. Also never played an X game.
Just fancy a nice huge single player to bite onto.

Did this have a free weekend not long ago or was it a dream?
I see @CaptainRAVE is pretty much always playing it, so it must be half decent!

Do you like space games? Do you like space games where you can create an empire, by building stations, having subordinates in ships making money for you?

Do you like a full simulated economy game, were each action matter even if that is just simple trading?

If you want to know how the game is atm, have a look here this streamer series of 15 episodes playing as the Split

If you truly like the game, get the collectors edition from here. For £4 more you get the Split Vendetta DLC and the next DLC which will come later in the year.
Is a bargain imho.

@YoungBlood As someone who's only been playing this a few days and has already clocked 70hrs let me warn you that this game is like crack cocaine, only you pay for it just once and the high can last as long as you can keepy your eyes open :p:p. It's the first game I've played in a good long while that's had me up till 4am let alone on more than one night trying desperately to forge my path in the galaxy and getting savagely taught by the AI that I'm just a cheeky little up start that needs to learn his place.

I thought I was doing okay, I had a small fleet of medium miners and traders and had managed to capture a huge Ides trading ship and was playing around trying to build some fighters and had just got my first Frigate.... I left the game running for a while thinking I'd let my traders etc generate some income and came back to find they'd all been murdered by the Xenon, not knowing what to expect I took my frigate and 12 rookie fighters to track down the culprit and get some payback figuring I was well set for a fight. What I jumped into can only be described as an absolute mauling! 3 Xenon destroyers and a spattering of fighters where pummeling a defense platform up in Free trade I think it was, greatly over estimating my chances I engaged my first and subsequently last target. 10 fighters to help attack with 2 protecting me started taking a severe beating, even with AI ships joining the fray I knew I was done for and tried to run but I wasn't going to make it, I quickly managed to run for my personal shuttle, the little starter ship, and managed a quick undock sacrificing my frigate crew and jumping to travel mode mere moments before the ship exploded I fled back to Argon Prime tail firmly between my legs and set to crystal mining again to build some more credits to begin again.

I was ready to quit after an hour or seven of hunting crystals and figured I'd go out in a blaze of glory and headed back to the site of my humiliating defeat and found the lifeless husks of dead and broken ships and no sign of the xenon, they'd moved on obviously not wanting to put an end to my misery but then I spot something an abandoned ship, heavily damaged but salvageable... a Behemoth which I'm not exactly sure how I did it I was able to capture it, give it just enough repairs to get it limping back to safer space.

I am hooked, line and sinker!

Now the question is to sell it and make bank or keep it and wreak havoc?

Good they fixed the warp from gate bug, I fell foul of that and ended up about 8000km for m the gate took me maybe 15 minutes to fly back in the system.

I put the top tier chassis mod on my dragon raider, thing is insane, I already got the agility thruster mid all be it the basic one, the thing does 1000 m/s and spins around very fast, crazy for a medium ship.

Still not 100% set on what guns, I keep flipping between the Tau Accelerators, the telade flaks, the Gatling things. I keep coming back to the Tau Accelerators though, the very high projectile velocity means you can land more damage on the target, which is something the maths on paper won't account for.

So this is the game finally that beats my i5 2500.

Well it hasn't technically 'beat' it as it still runs more than acceptable, just too hot.

Clocked one core at 97ºC!

Eerrrrrrr.

Ok you need to dust out your case, if that doesn't improve take the CPU cooler off, clean both contact points and apply new thermal paste.

97c is not good.

Clean your system.

But X4 the game that beat my 8600K @ 5Ghz...... Hell, is not that far than beating the 3900X.
2 cores are running at 4575-4605Mhz at 100% load for as long as the game runs and 8 cores are operating 40-80% loads. The game supports 16c/32t CPU.

On very mature campaigns like a 21 days playtime (you can see the time you played when you open the game), is using more and more cores. My Teladi campaign is that at 21 days long (over 504 hours), was thinking to order a 3960X :D

Thats what we get from 100% simulated game. The only comparable game is the EVE Online player economy part of the game. And is an MMORPG with huge server farm on the back.

And talking about server farm..... EVE in the glory days was using few dozens of IBM LS20 blade servers with AMD Opteron dual core in them. I know that the 2010 upgrade, they doubled the grunt performance using 51 x IBM HS21XM with Intel X5260 CPU (single) which is the equivalent of a C2D E8600.
A 3900X has the CPU grunt power of almost half that server and almost in par to the IBM LS20 server farm.

Might be easier for a new player to do the young gun start and follow the tutorial then as you try a few ships out and get used to em then you can decide on a split start as they are fast and powerful they do have weaker hull or shield vs other races so learn some survive-ability in more resilient ships first maybe.

So question on repairing ships in carriers/aux ships. When I land a ship for repairing, it seems to only do it when I manually click on each one and repair/resupply function... they don't automatically repair just by being landed, well they do not appear to... Is this normal or am I missing something?

Does anyone know how far station assigned auto miners will go in terms of systems, and what management level is required?

I want to put a station that is 2 jumps away from the only source of ore, my factory will need ore, will my station assigned auto miner go there?

Will I need to have a ranked up station manager for this?
