X4 Foundations

Finally taken family Knuut after about 10 hours in game time of fighting, man it was intense.

Killed say 8 stations, god knows how many K9's, at least 10, probably thousands of smaller ships, all with 2 rattlesnakes, 1 raptor, about 8 small ships and myself in my dragon raider.

But wow, doesn't take the vultures long to swoop in - I count already 12 mining ships from 3 different factions helping themselves to my hard earned asteroid bels.

Im gonna put "death stars" on the remaining 2 gates then move into Family Zhin which is my goal.

I bet Teladi & Ministry of Finance are 2 of them :D

interger scaling is for pixel based games it has no effect on a game like x4. IS is ok i think if i switch from 1440p to 1080p but i use use my reshade profile i made instead as it smoothes jaggies miles better than ingame aa so ingame aa is off and ive made it more cinematic the lighting i think.

IC is particular useful on 2d pixel games but not exclusive benefiting them... ;)

Was that a build mission for them?

No, I think it was a bug, I saved and reloaded and it's gone green again.

Anyone know if there is a way to stop the map resetting it's position to your ship every time you open it?

It's frustrating to be working on something in one area, flick back to your ship, then reopen the map to find it's now centered back on your ship, I'd rather if possible so that the position of the map remains where you left it before closing it.

I hear that, really annoying.

Anyone recommend a stats guid for weapon types etc.... I've no idea what the new boson lance is for etc and the ingame encyclopedia is useless

I cant find anything decent either, working on trial and error at the moment.

FYI dont use a boson lance, its like a one shot rail gun thing with about a 30 second cool down.

Is there anyone running this on the lower end of the requirements? Dad's wanting to get x4 but we're not sure if it would run.

He currently has a:

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz
HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB GDDR5
TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3

It was actually built for X-Rebirth but that was obviously a mess!

Seems to do nothing at all from what I could see when I ran tests on a dummy ship same sort of effect as mass drivers. Which split weapons do you recommend?

Well....

If you are talking your own ship, and anti fighter (small/medium) I go Tau Accelerators, the fast projectile speed means you can land more of that DPS on the target, plus Split ships are fast enough to get close quick.

For NPC... depends on the role, anti capital just go plasma, although now I think about it maybe those boson lances for a pure bomber.....

For general purpose NPC I tend to mix it up a little, but my honest answer is I don't really know whats best.

This is obviously just my opinion.

It'll struggle, it did on my i7 4770k. It also sits at around 10-12Gb Ram, so it won't be happy with that either. Not sure what settings it would run on, someone may be able to offer their experience?

Neutron Gatling and Ion blasters here, although the Blast Mortars rip through slower, bigger ships and they are fun, if not challenging, to use.

Amusingly in my current game, there is a Xenon I destroying the teladi. Its taken out the wharf in Profit Centre Alpha and is now attacking the stations in Bright Promise... I wonder if its trying to head down to company regard where I'm setting up shop in 3 xenon controlled sectors... but its tough, taken out the teladi defence fleet with only minor damage... watching with interest as to whether I need to redoply my fleet to intercept!

TEL are kicking ass in my game, they have taken quite a few Xenon sectors and building stations like crazy everywhere. And through no effort, I have +21 rep with them as well. May as well use that to my advantage!

Company Regard is a brave choice to setup shop, you'll need to defend it well.

I might regret that in the end, there are a few sectors and subsectors attached that I think my fleet can take out but we'll see... my stations are scattered throughout the other races areas and as CR and the connecting ones are all Xenon I shouldn't upset them and still generate enough cash until I bring my own ship production on line.

Can this game be played without going to 'war' with the AI races ?? If I got things right there is 'lawless' ships that are fair game to hunt down but part from that, can you have a 'peaceful' game, so to speak ??

Ive never really gone to war with any of the races other than taking out the odd station. I just build a huge empire through mining, trade, ship building and the occasional dabble in illegal wares.
