Sounds like you have 3 choices :Hi Lads,
Am wondering if anybody can help (maybe BlizzardX or Begbie can give advice- think they had similar issues)
I am stuck.
I had an active GPU and read about the transfer of Gold pass to GPU 1:1
1: So I bought 3 years SA Gold
2: Turned on VPN to SA. Then made my mistake - signed up for a new Microsoft account (since my other one still had GPU on it)......., but signed up to a new account when VPN was connected...., and redeemed the codes successfully, only to realize afterward I had just created a SA MS Account and dumped 3 years into it.
3. Tried to upgrade to Ultimate, and it only gives me options to pay via SA Credit Card or Phone.
4. I panicked and changed my actual MS account location back to Ireland - so now my MS account is based in Ireland, and 3 Months Gold transferred successfully
5. Went to upgrade and won't allow me as I am getting "You currently have a subscription from a different region. If it still doesn't work, please contact customer support."
6. Have been afraid to do anything in case I mess it up more...., so haven't contacted MS
Is there any ways to fix this:
- Do I buy a 14 day trial code for SA, use a VPN and try and redeem it?
- Do I buy an IRISH Trail code, and redeem it without a VPN in Ireland (where accound is now based)
- Just contact MS, and see if there is something they can do (although I believe they won't)
- ANY OTHER PROVEN WAYS TO GET AROUND THIS?
Thanks Guys in advance, any help would be great appreciated
I feel so stupid...., so close...., one simple mistake
Thanks, Xaldub...., Love your humour, thanks for the replySounds like you have 3 choices :
1. Contact MS customer support and confess your sins ( they will probably chuckle and let you off - they know everyone uses the VPN trick, or you could be unlucky and get a jobsworth )
2. Upgrade your "South Africa" account ... but be forced into constantly using your VPN to trick the system into thinking you're in SA.
3. Move to Johannesburg !
All seems a bit much to save such a small amount of money over such a long period of time.
No, I mean doing the VPN thing for stacking Live. How much does that save over 3 years? 50p a month? My 3 years cost me just shy of £90 iirc
MS Direct woudl be what 10.99 a month?
Xbox site kept insisting the key was in the wrong region, so I had to buy one month ultimate for the same region and apply that for it to convert.
Fair play to Microsoft, I phoned up and the guy clearly knew what I'd done and told me to do this to get round it.
I somehow managed to go 1 step more complicated on my attempt to sign up on the cheap.
I bought Turkish XBL keys & successfully applied them with a VPN, then disconnected and tried to buy the 1mo GPU direct, and got the same error as you. I tried a few things, including buying a 1mo XBL (UK) code and still had the same error.
After some digging, my MS account had my region as USA. Im not sure why, but this account was initially used just for a 'GamePass for PC' trial earlier this year, and possibly linked to my windows key (not sure). The only way i could get GP-PC working was to create a new windows account with that email address, i've always been offline/unlinked.
After using live chat with MS and it turns out it was 100% a 'USA vs UK' conflict, and thoughtout all of this ive seen nothing make reference to Turkish keys.
So my issue seems to have stemmed from a irrelevant setting months ago, coming back to bite, and simply changing the region in your account settings isnt enough.
So from what i can tell, i could have bought 3yo of GPU-UK codes at retail and it still would have errored because of a pre-existing issue (MS account was accidentally created as 'US'). What i find interesting, and reassuring, is that Turkey was never brought up, suggesting the XBL component of this whole thing uses global keys, which is the part most peoples concern seems to stem from.
Hi . So how did you fix it, did you buy a trial US or full one month US GP ultimate or US xbox gift card to activate ultimate Gold.I somehow managed to go 1 step more complicated on my attempt to sign up on the cheap.

You also said you set up a new MS account again, but how did you use the old email, did MS not say this account was already in use and prevent you updating. Would really love to know in detail how you fixed it ...., As nobody else seems to know. Thanks in advance
i'd say give it a try. in addition to saving the games to the console, you can cloud stream games if you went with the ultimate subscription meaning you wouldn't necessarily need to save the game to the drive.Hmmm shall I bother with Game Pass for my son's new Xbox series s....not really much space to fill with games and I think will be playing mainly split screen games or free to play online ones....?

I was skeptical but honest, well worth it. Its like a Netflix for games really. Give it a try.Cool will see how I get on and make sure I don't buy any games on game pass until I decide....
