XBOX Gamepass Ultimate conversion is back for £1

I've been on £10.99/month UGP for a while now. Just cancelled my autorenew. That ends on 20th Jan this year. I'll buy 3 x 12month UK (I cba with VPN etc) from CDKeys Xbox gold. Do I add them to the account now or on 21st Jan? I assume it's ok to buy now, I don't have to wait untill the 21st to buy?

After that i'm unsurew how to get the £1 offer. Is there a shared link or will it be in my account to click to activate?

TY

Todfay was the day I got the call at work "my xbox wont log in"

So, 3 x 12 month codes applied

Clicked the upgrade button, 1st month for a pound. It says 10.99 on the next screen.

NOw this :)

Upgrading your membership

Joining Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will upgrade your remaining Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass or EA Play membership(s) into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at the current conversion ratio, up to 36 months (any time over 36 months will be lost). Note that all conversions are final, and the conversion ratio is subject to change.
Your new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate renewal date will be: 20/01/2026
See xbox.com/gamepass for more information.

This still working then, mine has run out so good news if I can do the same again.

Take it you just wait for sub to expire, add 12 months gold codes and then purchase gamepass.

Used Brazil codes last time as they were significantly cheaper but doesn't seem as a big a difference now.

Yup, the process hasn't changed. As you say, need to let your existing subscription expire first.

Stumbled across this thread as my Gold expired on me unexpectedly (I must have disabled recurring billing when I upgraded to Series X)- so did an idle search for deals. So glad I did - and, as an update for the thread, it still works.

For speed and ease, I bought 3 years Gold via Amazon as CDK were only £4 cheaper, at the time I was looking. Added them all to my MS Account as described in thread, and then upgraded to ultimate.

*For those users, like me, who haven't done this before - I did the whole process via my Xbox account on my computer. Redeeming the Gold Live codes and then upgrading to unlimited for £1 (or whatever you are offered depending on when your GamePass expired.) The process was very quick on PC and less fiddley than mucking about with an Xbox controller. Plus you get to see the updated reassurance/confirmation of your next charge date in 3 years time via your account details.

Thanks guys/thread.

Just did this too.

3 x 12-month Xbox Live Gold codes entered via redeem code option on the Microsoft website and then converted to GP Ultimate at £10.99 for one month (as I had previously used the £1 offer). I was very careful and looking to unselect the auto-renew option, so as not to exceed stacking the three years but I never got offered this, so I assume must have deselected this previously.

Seems to have stopped working for £1 anymore. Mine ran out a few days ago and I have purchased the xbox gold but the option for gamepass for £1 is not there any more I can only see an option for £10.99

My 3 years is up in November, if it doesn't work again for £10.99 I just wouldn't renew. I would make do with buying and selling the odd game. As soon as that Activision deal goes through I imagine the price hikes will start. In 3 years I've really not played that much on gamepass anyway.

Can you still load 3 years of gamepass and then upgrade the lot for £10.99? Mines running out shortly.
Yes - instead of paying £1 you'll pay £10.99. I did this myself only recently as per post #750

Same. Although I've recently renewed for 3 years of Ultimate I certainly wouldn't pay the normal monthly price (same with PS Plus).

For me the subscription services don't really work in that a lot of the games I want to play aren't on them, rotate off and are minus DLC. I did some analysis of Game Pass Ultimate and for a 2-year period (2019-21) where I played 20 games. If I had of purchased them that would have been just short of £600 at their release prices. However if I waited for sales then I worked out I could have bought those games for between £140-200 (depending on the sale/rate of discount in that same time period). Which given that I tend to buy games in the sales anyway means that I could have purchased those games for the around the same price as the difference between Gold and GP Ultimate (obviously this is redundant where the near free conversion exists).

Microsoft have said that the price will go up and I'm sure the conversion will be removed as I suspect they are at close to saturation point on the amount of Ultimate users converted from Gold. Although these price increases might change price tiers and maybe make promotions a thing again.

Ive got 2-3 years still on mine, by that time im sure something would have changed, I will likely just sub for 1-2 months at a time, or just buy Gold, and buy the games I want to play. I don't get loads of time either to play now days.
I guess Gold will always be a thing, perhaps it would get a name change one day, but MS still need a cheap sub so you can play multiplayer games.

Might even do similar with playstation, I have ps+ extra, but when that lapses I might just get essential tier.

If I had to pay full rate for access to Game Pass Ultimate monthy, I don't think I'd bother. It's simply not worth it to me, as like you, I don't have the time to justify it and there is a lack of top tier AAA titles. A similar situation with Playstation ; I do have PS+ Essential, primarily for access to cloud saves and multiplayer support, but don't feel tempted to upgrade to Extra or Premium because I don't have the time to play everything ( also, I already own many of the top tier games on the service ).

The thing that keeps me invested in Game Pass Ultimate now is the Microsoft Rewards scheme. It only takes a few minutes of my day to gather ~700 points/day. Over the course of a month I generate approx. 20,000 points. At current prices in the UK it costs 192,000 MS Reward points to buy 3 years of Xbox Gold and convert that to Ultimate. Alternatively, but less efficient, I can buy 3 months of Game Pass Ultimate for 35,000 points. Right now, I'm sitting on 172,000 points that I've managed to accumulate since September last year. I'd strongly encourage everyone who has Game Pass Ultimate to look into the MS Rewards scheme and use it to fund your ongoing subscription. Alternatively you can convert the points to cash and buy games, hardware, Amazon vouchers etc. For reference 11,700 points earns £10 on the Microsoft Store.

Ive just had a look into this, how are you earning 700 points a day? Most of the quests ive seen are 10, 20 points.
