XBOX Gamepass Ultimate conversion is back for £1

You need to look in the Rewards app and there are weekly/monthly things to do on the X-box. You can also get daily points my using the mobile app. If you've got friends registered in the mobile app and play a game pass PC game you can collect 275 points daily. It's a game in itself but I've funded £100+ of Flight Simulator addons, FH5 upgrade. It pays my subscription and I'm sitting on > 200K points. I got 400 for being a rewards member for 4 years last week.

Ive just had a look into this, how are you earning 700 points a day? Most of the quests ive seen are 10, 20 points.
Get the Xbox app on your phone and do the rewards there, too. From that alone I make on average about 300 points per day. Also, using Bing ( on phone and PC ) you get another 162 points for a couple of mins work doing random searches. There's also extra stuff on Bing like quizzes, daily polls etc than can net you between 50-100 points daily. It may sound like a lot of work, but it isn't. It literally takes me less than 10 mins to do all of that stuff.

Yes - instead of paying £1 you'll pay £10.99. I did this myself only recently as per post #750

Same. Although I've recently renewed for 3 years of Ultimate I certainly wouldn't pay the normal monthly price (same with PS Plus).

For me the subscription services don't really work in that a lot of the games I want to play aren't on them, rotate off and are minus DLC. I did some analysis of Game Pass Ultimate and for a 2-year period (2019-21) where I played 20 games. If I had of purchased them that would have been just short of £600 at their release prices. However if I waited for sales then I worked out I could have bought those games for between £140-200 (depending on the sale/rate of discount in that same time period). Which given that I tend to buy games in the sales anyway means that I could have purchased those games for the around the same price as the difference between Gold and GP Ultimate (obviously this is redundant where the near free conversion exists).

Microsoft have said that the price will go up and I'm sure the conversion will be removed as I suspect they are at close to saturation point on the amount of Ultimate users converted from Gold. Although these price increases might change price tiers and maybe make promotions a thing again.
This is a good post and one I agree with, I did a similar calc and thought it not worth it. I seldom buy games on release anyway and often get them off ebay then sell them on when I'm done. I don't play online much anymore either. Cheapest place I can get gold is $90 a year. Brand new games are $79 on release day, usually $50 on the used market not long after. Resale then drops to $30 or so. I'd be lucky to get through 4 games in a year. Thankfully money isn't tight but GP seems needless in my circumstances. I ditched it at least 6 months ago and haven't missed it. If a game comes that I want to play online I'll sub for a month or until I've had my fill of it.

I get that completely, i was coming from the viewpoint that do they sub to xbox live gold? In which case its not a huge leap to ultimate game pass say.
I think the reply to me (if that's the one your referring to) was saying they don't even get Xbox Live Gold - hence saving $90 per year. And for some of the same reasons I find it hard to justify paying the full RRP for either MS or Sony's subscription services. As you say if you pay for Gold atm it's a no brainer to stack the 3yrs and then pay a one-off for GP Ultimate.

So my sub is coming to an end in the next 11 days. I did the original £1 upgrade and got my 3 yrs. But I can’t see anywhere where I can do this again??
I remember hearing that if you have done the £1 upgrade then it won’t be available to do again?? Or is that false??

If someone can clarify. Thanks.

You can’t do £1 upgrade again, you will have to pay the £10.99 or whatever it is.

Hi. I've just bought a series S and I'm a bit confused over what the best (and cheapest) way to get ultimate is? Can someone clarify? Lot's going on in this thread and i've lost track a bit.

I've seen some deals on Ebay which send you 6 x 2month codes for around £20 which doesn't seem bad, but a little fiddly.

Thoughts?

Sub to Xbox live gold, find the cheapest place for yearly codes, and then convert to ultimate for £1 ( if that offer is still working)

Think the max is 3 years of gold that you are able to convert to ultimate.

A year of gold is about £40 I think, so if you only want a year, it will only cost you £41 in total for a year of ultimate, best to max the gold out though (3 years) as it works out better value.

That's incorrect. @Yas786, you just need to let you current subscription fully expire (ensure not set to auto renew, remove card details). Then just order your new 3 years from wherever cheapest, redeem the codes then to the £1 upgrade again.

Just done the same myself a few weeks back.

Really I thought it was tied to your gamer tag and only new subscribers.

Mine expired about 8 months ago and had to pay the full months price to upgrade, perhaps because I had card details stored still then?

Yeah, that's news to me. Used to be a once off deal for new subscribers only. Would be good if they have changed it.
