What happens if you were to stuff the kinect in a cupboard out of sight and use a joypad like most people?
It will still hear you masturbating, but no one at MS headquarters will watch you, so definitely an improvement. Meh, it will probably, when locked away, have legs come out and move itself, push the door open a crack and watch you through it.....
Hehe, seriously the new gen thing I'm most intrigued about is that because the PS4 is so close to pc architecture(even to the point it will be optimised for bandwidth rather than deploying fancy edsram tricks to minimise bandwidth use) there is more potential for direct open gl ports of PS3 games onto PC. It will be very interesting to see what a fully written and optimised for AMD cpu/gpu and openGL could do on the PC as Direct X on the pc, well basically all the big game dev's say direct x is hell on pc and introduces huge overheads and performance trouble vs the same situations on consoles.
With the PS3, as it was such different hardware anyway it was easier to go completely multiplatform, make it dx for the 360 and make the windows version from that. With Valve pushing linux and OpenGL, with PS3 on openGL, we might see some ps3 exclusives get later releases on the PC, but not the Xbox.
What I'd love is for game devs to dump direct x and then in the long term, be able to choose to game on Linux OR a PC, with a API controlled by game dev's and maybe AMD/Nvidia vs MS getting to control direct X. Free and small/optimised LInux install over Windows I'd take any day, but for a gaming PC is currently out of the question.
Xbox is going the other way, further locking in customers, pushing windows onto the Xbox, forcing things to be connected, continuing trying to lock gaming to direct X.
