To be honest, I'd take the graphical quality that they can do now with The Last Of Us, Uncharted 4 at least for these first baby steps in to 4K. As I mentioned several pages ago, 4K is the next thing for TV and that really is going to be around for a while. It's not like we're starting 4K and 8K is waiting in the wings as it was with 1080p consoles and 4K. 8K is not going to appear for 10-20 years for consumers so there is a long time to get decent 4K gaming.
This is Microsoft's ploy to nick Sony's crown as the PS4 neo won't be doing 4K gaming unless it's on basic games like most indie stuff.
Well right now neither the xbox or PS4 run games well at 1080@60fps. 4K is 4x the pixels, and the Scorpio has 4x the power so it won't run 4k@60fps well. Rather just have games that run smoothly at 1080p with better graphics then the limited gain off going 4k.
Also we don't really know what Sony will have power wise it could change, and all MSFT has told us it TFlops what mean nothing. The Fury X has 2m more tflops then the 980Ti but loses for the most part.
It will be interesting too see what happens though and I like the Idea off having mid cycle updates for better graphics. Consoles at launch looked worse then PCs and they just fall behind year on year too the point that at the end of the PS3/Xbox 360 life it was just stupidly far behind. As long as games work on the OG PS4/Xbox One then things are good, if you want better graphics you pay, if you don't enjoy your console.
