Xbox Scorpio

Yeah it is a bit annoying to have some games 30 frames and other 60. A good selling point to me personally would be to disable some graphics features to achieve a higher frame rate if desired.

As lets face it 4k on any settings looks stunning either way.

Yup for me that would be a massive selling point for any console, don't even give the options for settings etc. just have 3 options where the developers have done the work for you:

30 fps and max graphics @4k
60 fps with lesser graphics @ 4k
60 fps with max graphics at 1080P

As a console, it is not the most expensive, in recent times, you have the PS3 to beat and that was what? 11 years ago? Adjust $599 with inflation, even with my terrible mathematics, I know $599 11 years ago is more than $499 today. So as a Console, it is not a bad price, it is not the lowest price, but is never the lowest spec console neither, it is the fastest console ever.

As a PC, there is no way in hell anyone can build one for $499 now, or $499 in 5 months' time, I don't think. Plus, you still have to buy a controller.

MS has to take a big hit with that, they know people have a mental barrier of spending more than $500 on a console, $499 is a good price, it is a fair price.

As for the games....Hmmmm nothing interest me at launch, there is no Zelda Breath of the Wild level of game that I can see here.

I wish industry pushed UHD blue rays forward with cheaper prices. They shouldn't cost more than £10:/

Yeah they are still a bit on the pricey side, have to wait for deals or the Bay to get them closer to £10. They do tend to come with a Blu Ray and a digital copy as well which can be quite handy.

I got Revenant and John Wick for close to £10 each. Revenant is absolutely spectacular in 4K, so id happily pay a bit more if needed :)

I'm a heavy online FPS gamer so I wont be buying one, 30FPS just isnt good enough, 60 is the absolute minimum. I dont have a 4k TV either as I dont feel there is enough content or need for one to justify the cost so I'm sticking with PC on 1440P and will probably buy a PS4 for the exclusives and back catalogue at some point

As an avid gamer it doesnt tick my boxes so I'll be giving it miss

Agreed. $499 is still a great price considering what your getting. I was expecting it to more to be honest.

But yeah in terms of exclusives. Not much really taking my fancy to warrant buying the Scorpio. RDR2 is going to kill me but i don't want to buy it just for 1 game that might make its way to PC eventually.

One game I've always wanted to experience from Xbox was Halo but that is on PC now?

That's another one - new Shadow of Mordor game is 4K30 on Xbone X.

Problem is do you wait to play it in 4K or get it on the current One/S? I'm seriously hyped for that game so not sure I can hold off :(

Suppose it's only a month now Shadow of War has been delayed to October.

I don't know why but some games work well at 60fps while some look too smooth. Some games like Mordor I prefer at 30. Even The Last of Us Remastered I switched it to 30.

That makes no sense! :p

Personally I can't stand 30 fps, it is ok on consoles (especially since consoles have motion blur enabled by default which makes 30 fps look smoother) but I would still much rather have constant 60 fps over graphics/4k.

Makes no sense? 60fps works well with action games such as Uncharted 1, 2 and 3. Other games it takes the film effect away. 60fps felt too smooth on The Last of Us Remastered. Soap Opera Effect.

Where 60fps looks totally different on the PC. Doesn't look like the Soap Opera Effect.

Even The Rise of The Tomb Raider can make me feel queasy on console. Not always but it has happened.

As in, surely there is no such thing as too smooth for when it comes to gaming?

You shouldn't be getting a soap opera effect from 60 fps games unless have Sony/Microsoft got some form of frame interpolation that is implemented in certain games???? Or perhaps that is just how 60 fps feels on console with their settings/configuration for motion blur etc.?

Next time I'm playing a 60 fps game on a friends console, I'll have to keep an eye out for this, can't say I noticed it before tbh, certainly not like TVs motion interpolation setting i.e. soap opera effect. Outside of the motion clarity benefits of 60 fps, for me, the other thing that is just as important is the responsiveness of 60 fps over 30 fps, it is night and day with the difference being around 16ms.

And on that topic, I also can't stand the stutter in films either which is why I use madvr's smooth motion (not like TVs motion interpolation)
