And how is a 2.4GB SSD going toe to toe with a 5.5GB SSD? Something not right there. And who’s doing Auto HDR, increasing resolution and frame rate on games without patches? Nah, Xbox has both hardware and software crowns at this time.

what are the must play games on the xbox ? I picked on eup 2 weeks ago and currently I have been playing PGA 2K1 - mainly for nostalgia reasons as I loved iger woods PGA on PS1 and Forza Horizons 4, which feels like a much better game than then Gran Turismo series.

What are the A list games that I should also be thinking about that are unique to xbox ? I have got MS gamepass if that makes any difference.

Hmmmm anyone know how to purchase l4d2 on the series x? Apparently it is one x enhanced but you can't buy it from the store in the uk. I tried the method via PC which you try to buy the 360 version but nope.

I am not going to test it but I can see the price and option to "Download" from the 360 game page. £14.99

Does Microsoft ever have sales on old DLC or am I going to have to bite the bullet and pay full price for some stuff like Dragon Age Origins and Prince of Persia Epilogue?

You just get a not available at this time error, according to reddit you need to buy from an old xbox 360 console. Apparently it was removed from backwards compatible.

Ah, that'll be it then. Last time I looked (ages ago) it was on the BC list. I assumed it would still be there. I wonder why they took it off.

I've seen some of that GameStack stuff but it also makes me wonder how the heck are they going to use it properly if they have to still cater for PCs as well? I can't even see how DirectStorage helps on Windows because you don't have unified memory.

Seems X/S versions of games work fine from my usb3 external HDD. Zombie Army worked fine for me

If they are still compiled with the old Xbox Development Kit they will. Only new Game Development Kit games need the SSD.

just buy the ultimate addition 360 game, and install and play off disk 2 only.

The Xbox Series S has no disk drive, fella. I could get it on PC for cheap as chips but I don't fancy sitting hunched over mouse and keyboard these days.

Have you invitees to the Xcloud on browser beta all been Xbox Live Gold users for a pretty long time? I'm wondering if it's because I'm a newbie they aren't inviting me yet. Or it could be that they invited me to the iOS beta last year and I only used it for a couple of minutes because the iPad mini screen was too small for my liking.

Yeah, as an S owner I’m not 100% satisfied but it’s keeping me occupied until I can easily buy an X on the MS store (for the warranty).

The Xbox warranty from MS direct gets you two replacement controllers and Xbox Series X consoles no matter the issue, accidental damage included, for three years. It only costs £39.99 for that cover and you can only get it if you bought the console directly from MS.

Ooh, I didn't even know about the controllers. I just thought it was 3 year warranty for the console. Noice.

I have a 4TB external USB 3.0 HDD which is nearly full of Game Pass games. It seems plenty fast for me in terms of loading as well. I barely use the internal SSD of my XSS at all.

There are a few X-enhanced games like Far Cry 5 and New Dawn but they suffer from fallback to the "S" version like others so there's no 4K60 unfortunately.
