I have about 8 games on the series x internal, 5 of them quite large files like MSfs 2020, BF 2042, forza horizon, and then some smaller games that take up hardly any room.
I try not to have a pile of shame.:D

That's the same with me - unfortunately with my Series S, just those two games alone are taking up 60-odd% of my SSD space. I really need extra storage. Or buy a Series X aswell. :p

So they have added some more games to back compatibility, one of those arcade games I used to own on 360. Buy it want's to charge me £6.99 to download it. It didn't do that with other arcade games. How do I download it again without paying?

My digital history on my account only goes back to 2013, but it was a game I bought on the 360 in 2007! Can these be restored at all?

The typical outcome of this sort of thing is that the gamertag you are using now is not the same one as you purchased that XBLA game on back in 2007. You can always contact MS Support if you are 100% certain.

What the heck is going on with the BCpack feature to reduce file sizes? Some games on the PS5 are considerably smaller with its Kraken tech and BCpack is supposed to be as good. There’s no way any new-gen game should be 100GB.

Isn't BCPack something that developers have to actually choose to implement though? I'm not sure that the console does it automatically, they've got to build the game around it when they code. I could be wrong though. I honestly don't know anything about game development.

LOL, same here. Just an armchair developer rant. I thought BCpack was just texture compression that you could run any game files through and it squished them up so that the XBox decompresses the textures on the fly and saves a ton of space. Having a quick Google, I've got the feeling it's not finished yet and therefore not in the Game Development Kit. All the info about it seems to be from early 2020.

Gives you another 3 months to flip-flop about what you're doing, adding on from the 12 months you've already spent :)

No, it's all been decided now. I've got my Series S and that's it. I'm going to use that, upgrade my PC and XCloud/PS Now. Next purchase will not be a new TV but a lovely ultra-wide monitor.

I'm going for massive drop. I can't believe people don't want one at this time of year. But I already know a couple of people who've bought one for £650 from fleabay because they didn't want to disappoint their kids on Christmas day.

The expansion card considering the spec of the internals is not far from a rip off.. M.2 drives of the same transfer speed (2400MB/S) sell for £70. Seagate and Microsoft are making sure they are making decent margins.

But when you look at the same SSD family - CompactFlash Express cards - for digital SLRs they are £500+ for 512GB. So clearly there is something in the design that warrants that cost. These are not just bog standard M.2 NVMe drives.

You sound like a consumer. There is nothing special about the components of the card the flash chip is a off the shelf Gen 3 flash chip with a proprietary interface.

Well either way, we can't do anything about it. Either put up with the price or shut up about it. :D

A tip from me - get going on Microsoft Rewards. After 6 months, I could change my total into £ and get that SSD for £90.
