IMO no, I picked one up for the same reason.. Outer Worlds didn’t look as good as I hoped.. got the hotstock app and in 3 days bagged an X. Sent the S back to Amazon.

Quick question is the Series S worth buying until the Series X is more readily available?

I’m very happy with the S, and I own an X too.

If you’re happy with the cost difference between buying now and selling second hand later I think I would do what you suggest.

Plugged the 860 Evo in via the dock and working like a champ, copied all non X optimised games over and it was really quick, quicker than I expected

Shame you can't pick what drive to download to for new downloads and you have to move it once it's downloaded to the default drive but I can live with that and hopefully they'll sort it at some point

You can choose which drive is default to download to, go into the settings and there should be the option to change what each drive is for. My 2TB Crucial SATA drive is my default.

Yeah sorry I wasn't clear, I get that but would rather a prompt as you begin to download because I want optimised games on internal and everything else external

If you download a game while on the XSX, it does prompt you if you try and download an XSX optimised game onto anything other than the internal drive. You don't unfortunately get this option from remote downloading (app or store) as far as I can recall.

Ok thanks, going to download Halo Master Chief Collection in a bit.

I've tried and failed to get into it previously so going to try again. How do I know which order to play them in?

Trying to install via the app and it's failing argh it's always hit and miss for me, it's in eco mode but it still should queue it up for the next time it's switched on

Remote download is only suppose to work with Instant On power setting. I have changed mine back to Eco mode and it still allows for remote downloads but they don't start until the box has been powered on now.

As for the order to play the Halo collection in, I played the games in order of release from the OG Xbox with Halo through to Halo 3 and then Halo 3 ODST (I'm not listing 4 or 5 as I haven't actually played the stories for either of these yet).

Chronologically, the order would be Halo Reach, Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo: ODST, Halo 3, Halo 4 and Halo 5.

Yeah that's what I mean but I get an error message when I attempt to queue the download in eco mode so I switched it on and tried again via the app and still got an error message!

Thanks for the info on Halo, I'll go with order of release

I had the same issue a few weeks ago and I changed things back to Instant On and I think it took an hour before the app caught up with the change (I did also go through the app settings again to make sure it was paired again).

I know that the Beta Game Pass app is broken for most right now (open's and instantly closes) so I have been using the normal release version recently. Sometimes the app's can be a bit messy either way. I've also got my XSX in the Beta insider's ring so it's getting a few more updates from time to time so that can help/hinder things.

That doesn’t help when Xbox One games should go on the normal SSD and Series games should go on the internal drive.

Not an issue when the prompt comes up for an internal only game on download. Right now, the important thing is for Smart Delivery still to download the XSX version of a game even if it's being downloaded to an expansion drive.

I've had a few oddities where I've moved an XSX game over to an external drive and the automatic updating function has then re-downloaded the XSX version onto the internal drive leaving two copies installed, one on each drive (Dead by Daylight being the one game I witnessed this happen).

It doesn’t work for remote installs, and it also doesn’t prompt if you have the official expansion drive and there is not enough space to install or update. It’s just terribly designed. Period.
