It only makes sense if they’re stripping out the talent to work on other projects, such as the slipstream or the various Bethesda/id engines.

Wouldn't you just offer them more money and better working conditions instead of buying the whole company? Who knows, but I'm sure MS has some strategy in in mind.

Their only ip of note is the lukewarm Crysis so I’m not convinced that MS will buy them.

Herpderp sites such as resetera are wrong so often that I wouldn’t pay attention to this rumor.

The Crytek stuff isn't happening. They have nothing Xbox would want apart from Rise IP. Theres now insiders saying there 4 studios being aquired to take the total up to 27

How is everyone getting on with the 1TB storage? Are people footing the insanely expensive price for the expansion or just using standard USB storage to move some games to?

I only have 360gig or so internal storage as on a S.

I brought a refurbished 2tb spindle from WD, plugged that into usb, and its handled my needs fine. On average my internal is 40-60% full.

I also have a 128gig ssd connected via usb for captures.

Would it be terrible games running off a 4TB Seagate extenal HDD?

on consoles historically they have been crippled as much as by cpu as storage speed.

To prove this point FF15 loads quicker on my Series S via usb spindle than it does on my PS4 pro via internal sata SSD.

It is much slower than internal nvme, but also still faster than previous gen consoles.

Yes you did indeed! :D

Was just talking to my US friend who was moaning about just missing out on one through the US Microsoft store. Then saw your message and now I have one ordered

This will pair nicely with my new monitor when I receive it:

Nice looking screen! I keep looking at Series X when they come into stock... don't really need one as I've got a 3080 but sometimes a console is just easier!

Apparently Microsoft has bought Crytek and will announce a new Crysis game at E3, the game is exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X/S

The last thing Microsoft needs is more sci-fi/military shooters, however polished they may be.

I got my PS5 the other day and just started playing Ghost of Tsushima....this is the sort of thing they need. Big AAA single player experiences that go beyond the gruff scifi cigar-smoking grey gun-toting genre....zzzzzz

Hopefully plenty of that coming, Skyrim etc should help fill that void.

Agree, just something a little different, a single player with a good story, GoT was excellent. I get bored of all the similar sci-fi shooters as well.
Microsoft seem obsessed with shooters or multiplayer games.

Interesting game streaming announcements today:
  • Server hardware will soon be upgraded to Series X hardware (from Xbox One S hardware).
  • Streaming via Web browser is leaving beta.
  • By the end of the year, streaming will be available on Xbox consoles (new lease of life for Xbox One hardware?) and on some smart TVs and set-top boxes.
  • Microsoft are launching their own streaming stick, essentially a "streaming only" Xbox console.
