Banning splash screens would have been far more useful than quick resume.

Banning unskippable splash screens and intros would be great but its not gonna happen, I'm sure a lot of them are licensing requirements.

Games that let you skip them like Aliens Fireteam load up so fast, then with games like Outriders your stuck watching them for ages.

The games that work with quick resume are great and a nice bonus but that's a small list, most things online connected your stuffed anyway.

They can also leave a logo overlaid on top of the menus/game/loading screens for X amount of seconds after the game boots to meet those requirements.

Microsoft is rumoured to be announcing another large acquisition soon, and it doesn't appear to be a baseless one, as a number of insiders have alluded to it on Twitter. It's implied that it could be as big as the Zenimax deal, the leaker mentioned that the announcement could raise concerns about monopolization. Some of the contenders include EA, Take Two, Ubisoft, Valve and WB Games.

Naturally, you will have your naysayers, but I don't think anything is beyond Microsoft's reach at the moment. They acquired Nuance for $19.7 billion back in April!

Imagine if it was Take Two and they got exclusivity to GTA VI.

Take-Two's combined portfolio includes franchises such as BioShock, Borderlands, Grand Theft Auto, NBA 2K, and Red Dead among others.

Out of all of them, I kind of hope it's Ubisoft. They really need to get their assesgames on Game Pass. Even as part of Ubisoft Connect like EA Play for Ultimate users.

Interesting; another name I'd pitch might be Sega; its pretty unusual that Football Manager 2022 is going straight onto GamePass Day 1; effectively giving up a lot of revenue (especially on PC) for something that must be one of their bigger sellers each year.

I'm not sure Japanese companies are allowed to be bought by foreign companies.

Who is the dingus that thinks MS can buy Valve? Name and shame!

Sega is a publicly traded company so they can’t purchase them in the traditional sense, and any majority stock purchase or buy out of stock would be a very public event. It’s 100% not Sega.

Then it’s 100% not them either. Edit: and Ubisoft is also publicly traded.

Being a publicly traded company doesn't mean they can't be acquired. Nuance Communications (mentioned in my previous post) was a public company and Microsoft acquired them for $19.7 billion. There are numerous ways to do so, the most obvious being privatization. Don't think for a minute that Microsoft is neither willing or capable.

Why would any of those top selling game devs want to lock themselves into the Microsoft bubble. Essentially cutting out a huge fanbase, via other systems (PlayStation and Nintendo). don’t see it happening.

I didn’t say they couldn’t, but it wouldn’t be a surprise like a private acquisition is.

If the deal is already done then it’s not for a publicly traded company.

That's what people said about Zenimax!

Valve is private, plus the concerns about monopolization fits the bill, but it's still speculative! Either way, Zenimax certainly wasn't the last big acquisition, mark my words!

Valve is obviously a very different entity to the others, they would get into trouble with regulators if they own Steam.
