Doesn't that stop you playing with mates with the older Xbox's though? The group I play with don't all have series X/S consoles. I remember having issues disabling crossplay at the system level in back 4 blood, as it stopped the guys with Xbox One X's playing with those of us with Series X's.

Sorry I don't know because it's not really an issue for me, the only person I know that games is my brother, he's on pc but hates games like BF

I'm waiting for a Series X Pro or something - I think I'll finally transition away from PC gaming at that point.

Would be great to get something which can genuinely run most games at 4K120

I'd happily pay £700-800 for it too.

You'll be waiting a while for that I imagine but yeah I'll happily buy it too. I wouldn't let the current spec stop you from moving from PC though, the amount of money I spent and my brother still spends on pcs and all the messing around with it, I love my series X for it's simplicity and value and would never go back to pc

I played plagues tale recently, I was really disappointed along with the rest of the internet that it was only 30fps, when I played it the graphics were unbelievable, no frame drops and I couldn't even tell what FPS it was running at

Saying that I played Scorn before it, I think that's 60fps, again amazing graphics but I just can't tell what FPS it's running at anymore and I used to obsess over that with PC, now I just play the game and enjoy it

There are just some games which I really enjoy playing on PC though, which is the problem

Anything which runs at 30 FPS on Xbox I play on PC, because I can't stand the frame rate :/

These days I game far more on my Series X than my PC. But yes, there is stuff like Flight Sim and TW : Warhammer that I still play on the PC. The comfort of gaming lounging on my sofa trumps sitting at a desk a foot away from a monitor by far. Like you, I prefer my games to run at 60 fps ( or higher ), and to be fair a lot of the titles on Series X ( and PS5 ) are, plus the visual quality on my 65" Panasonic LZ2000 OLED is superb - much better than either of my PC monitors. In my opinion monitor technology is lagging far behind TV panels, or rather it exists but at grossly inflated prices. I can't see myself upgrading my PC in the same way I have been doing for the last 20 yrs - costs are too prohibitive, and for diminishing returns in performance.

I some what agree.

I play 99 percent of my gaming on xbox now over pc, but it's partly due to just a serious lack of great pc games.

I think of the the last games I played on PC for a proper length of time are

Ages of Empires 4
Flight sim (now on xbox any way)
Factorio
Dyson sphere program
Skyrim

Factorio and Dyson in particular were great and you could never play those on xbox in the same way if they released them on console,

however, factorio and skyrim are both fairly old games.

Age of Empires 4 was only played for a short while in comparison (about 30 hours compared to 150 on skyrim) , as was flight sim, which is now on xbox and just as fun for me.

It just shows in my opinion that there aren't enough new exclusive pc games, and not enough new that come out on both console and pc, but are far better on pc due to mods etc.

I don't mind playing games on PC, there just aren't that many good ones that are vastly improved by playing pc over console.

I've had a google for this an found nothing but rumours, but does anyone know if there will be a 'refresh' of the XBS/X next year? i.e. something along the lines of a 'tweaked' slim version? or is that a while away due to chip shortages, supply issues?

No one knows at this point, but as you say, shortages don't help as I'm sure there's still strong demand.

You also have already had the slim version as such, as this was the first release where you had 2 versions. I can't see them adding a slimmer slim, though there could be a more powerful pro.

If you're worried about wasting money. Buy a second hand series x/s and then sell it next year if a pro comes out. Will be minimal loss

Not heard anything, and very doubtful given Phil Spencer's recent comments on Series X production costs ( MS are taking a $100+ loss per console ).

I agree with this viewpoint. The PC space is awash with incomplete early access games, and as you say, nothing really that excels on the PC platform. I suppose another advantage for PC is in the FPS multiplayer arena but that isn't a genre I'm interested in.

The area that PCs excel at is RTS and Grand Strategy games. I miss the Total War series and games like Hearts of Iron 4. Thankfully they both have Mac ports but yeah. Xbox isn't great for those types of games.

They could release those for Xbox though, just plug a KB/Mouse in and it's basically like playing them on PC.

True, but I have bad eyesight, so playing on a TV which is generally further away from you than a computer monitor, makes it harder to read the text. I have new glasses coming in a week or two, so hopefully, that won't be an issue :D.

Indeed. Even if you could use a keyboard and mouse in xbox for those games, where the heck are they supposed to go? I don't have somewhere a mouse mat could go while I'm sat on a sofa.
