I expected to be flamed for my views on Witcher 3! Glad I could come out in such a friendly forum. :D

Thought I'd ask in here rather than create a new thread. I want to get an Elite controller series 2 for my nephew who is 12. There's the Elite and an Elite core. Core is around a third cheaper. I have the Elite 1 and think it's great but other than the colour what is the difference between the elite and the core? Seems like both are compatible with his PC and both are rechargeable.

Only thing I can spot is it looks like you don't get the extra thumbsticks and the under paddle things? Although it looks like you can still use them on the core - presume you buy them separately? I have never actually used mine on my series1, are there any advantages? Judging by his gamer profile he has Game Pass but looks like he mostly plays FIFA, Roblox, UFC4 and Fortnite. He has the new COD but no achievement score yet.

IIRC the core does not come with replacement parts and the charging dock. You need to buy the extra parts separately.

Corsair Lapdog or Razer Turret :)

-----
Love my Razor Turret, such an excellent piece of kit. I went from using a usb extender cable, huge piece of cardboard and cushions to the Turret and think it's the best thing out there. Just picked up Cyberpunk in the BF sale as that now supports kb&m too.

I like the look of the lapdog but you need two dongles vs one and there's no native xbox app for it. I keep scanning the MM but no luck as I'd like to do a comparison.

Guess I am lucky controllers are heavily discounted right now, the controller finally became unusable, X button played with it soft for a few hours, but now there is no sensation of it been pressed at all and rises slowly although it still registers the presses. But annoyingly for some reason no next day on the forest for the item, Monday delivery. :)

Looking at guides, it seems to work on the buttons the entire thing has to be taken apart including desoldering.

Suffice to say new controller paid for 3rd party 3 years warranty, the UK 1 year warranty sucks now. :(

Whilst looking to see if I could use my reliable 360 controller (answer is no), it seems a 360 controller with the new buttons is about to be released that will work on the Series consoles.

What's the general view on the Series S console?

My daughter is obsessed with the Goat game and the new version is new generation consoles only, so see the Series S as the cheapest way at £190.

Will have it connected to a 4k, 120Hz capable TV.

Wow unplugged my new xbox controller, guess what, X button sticks out of the box and its worse, this one actually stays stuck pressed without intervention, I either am having really bad luck with xbox controllers or they got quality control issues.

I will have a question now of what happens to the 3rd party warranty when its returned under retailer warranty.

Seems they only offering return for refund (with reorder expected, but there is no discounted stock left, I feel they should be giving me a discount code for the reorder).

Managed to contact them after finding the number they now hide, luckily over phone they agreed to do exchange. So not screwed over the Black Friday price.

Gave in and bought the Seagate 1Tb expansion card - will receive it tomorrow from the jungle place. I've been playing a ton of games on the Series X over the last few months, and the install sizes of some of these games are huge which quickly eats up the SSD storage space. For example, I play both Forza Horizon 4 & 5 regularly ( 200Gb + ), MS Flight Sim ( 127Gb+ ) and have been trying to get into Gears of War ( GoW5 is 120Gb+ ). Also have Plague Tale : Requiem which I'm playing through and will uninstall when finished an it's just over 50Gb. With CoD likely to be received as a Xmas present I had visions of my remaining storage space disappearing entirely.

How many of you have picked up the Seagate expansion card ?

I've considered it, but I have fast internet,, so I prefer to uninstall something I'm not playing now.
I did the same, until the handful of titles I mentioned gobbled up almost all my storage space. And I play them all regularly, so uninstalling isn't really an option. I think 2Tb storage is optimal for me ( as it is on my PS5 ).

I’ve been gifted an Elden Ring code from a friend in the US, can I redeem this on my Xbox? Currently coming up as “this code wasn’t found”, but unsure if that’s a region error or something else.

I tried out Soccer Story today and it's another little gamepass gem. It's basically a soccer version of golf story with loads of little mini games and challenges. If you don't mind retro SNES style graphics give it a whirl.

Evening all, my nephew wants a VR headset for Christmas. He has the XBOX One S, so previous gen.

I am not fully up to speed with VR. Could I get him the Meta Quest 2 that's currently on offer and that will allow him to play Xbox games using the headset?

There is no VR capability for the Xbox. Meta Quest 2 is a separate ecosystem with its own library of games. Three youngsters in my family have the Quest 2 and love it.
