I was looking through gamepass today trying to find something half decent to play. I'd give them about £3 a month for it. My 3 years run out in November, I will just go back to gold and buy any games I fancy.
They need to get to a point where they're delivering 4-6 games a year of the highest quality you can't get on playstation on top of everything else they offer to justify someone subscribing at asking price really. But those cheap deals will soon be a thing of the past like amazon prime trials now are, and just look at Netflix removing the ability to share your account outside of your household for more and more users.

Yeah I can't grumble it cost me £1 for 3 years. In 3 years I've played:

Gears 5 which I had already bought for £19 not long after launch because it was a broken buggy mess
Gears Tactics drivel, buggy drivel
Monster train, fun for a bit
High on Life, fun little blast
Walking dead games, enjoyable
Commandos 3 which I played on PC for some nostalgia
I tried that left4dead clone but would have preferred L4D.

Not enough top class titles but that's been sadly true for the Series X full stop. Christ I was contemplating buying the Bioshock remaster today for something to play that was decent quality. I would be better placed with a rental service to play better titles than Ultimate. I love the hardware, but the games have been such a massive flop. This will be my last Microsoft console until they start actually buying studios to make new IP.

To be fair I think lots of the acquisitions they've made already won't really bare fruit for another 3-4 years really. We're going to start getting our 1st taste of things to come at the end of the year... they still have me as a game pass subscriber via Windows but I got rid of my xbox a few months ago after coming to a similar realisation.

They better hope Starfield hits it out the park to get people at least wanting to try out the game with a subscription on xbox or pc.

They've snapped up a lot of studios already. Problem is the output has been very poor. MS need to change their management style and be more hands-on with their studios and give clear guidance ( like Sony does ). Until that happens the ambition of several AAA titles per year won't be realised.

I've been thrashing through the Bioshock games over the past week and I would say go for it! :D

I also played the Bioshock trilogy recently because I couldn't find anything I wanted to play on game pass and I loved it, nostalgic gaming. They don't make them like that anymore:(
I got all excited when they were showing Clockwork Revolution thinking it was another Bioshock and was a bit disappointed when it wasn't. Still looks pretty good, though.

Yeah high hopes for that one but with modern gaming and the way Microsoft is going with their 1st party releases I wouldn't be surprised if it was another Redfall. Hopefully that's not the case.

Meanwhile I'm tempted to get a PS5 or build a new PC

I built a new PC End of last year and TBH my xbox is getting very limited play these days, if its crossplay i will play on PC and more games are than aren't these days. I still think Gamepass Ultimate is a great deal, especially if like me you got 3 years for sub £100 by converting, at £13 a month its not "bad" but its less good. if MS can make the 2-3 big hitters a year then fine its still a good deal, even if i only bought Forza and starfield it still covers itself.

Right now im only keeping the xbox for "none PC gamepass games" and none cross play multiplayer games, But the fact a black box that cost 1/10th of what my PC cost can compete still impresses me.

My game pass sub ran out last year, don't think I'd played a game on Xbox in 2023 until this week in preparation for Starfield.

I resubbed for 2 years of GP for £60ish, so thirty quid a year, even if I only play a couple of games that's decent value for money.

Already had a lot of fun with Forza Horizon 5 which I'd not played before.

This is the longest I've used my Series X since I played Far Cry 6 at the start of last year and even then it's only been about 20 hours or so - I much prefer the PS5 over it.

I'm giving it until the end of this year to see the state of play with MS and their games before I decide to sell it or not.

Absolutely that's great value, would you still pay it when the loophole is closed and they want £11-£13 a month?

Possibly, it depends on the available titles at the time, it's the same as Netflix, Disney+ etc. in that respect.

I may resub when there is a deal or offer for 3 months to play something in particular. But may be better waiting for the game to go on sale and buying it outright. I'm sorted for 2 years now anyway.

MS have been aware of the loop hole for years, I can't see them closing it anytime soon. Unless they were in a stronger market position that is and had people clamouring for game pass as they had so many amazing first party titles... The price rise just before the release of Starfield is interesting tho.

When did you resub? Assume the Xbox live subscription & then upgrade to ultimate is still the go-to loophole?

Mine expired a while back and I hadn't been using the Xbox much so didn't bother sorting it out again but want to get back into it

Earlier this week, and yep that regular loophole.

Turkey gold on CD Keys is £25 a year and then 10.99 for 1 month of GP.

I'm looking for some help in finding a suitable game for me. I need a game I can play in 15 to 30-minute slots. I usually play something like CoD, as I can do a couple of multiplayer games, do some work for an hour or two, and then return for another break.

Would something like Diablo 4 be a good option? Or are there any other games I should try? I have Game Pass Ultimate.

Vampire Survivors. Might look old school, but it's addictive as hell and each run can last up to 15 mins. And it's on Game Pass. You could play Diablo in short bursts, but i don't think I'd recommend it ... you'd probably not feel like you're making any progress.
