I'm just watching Fightincowboys day 1 stream of Starfield and it looks really good. Hilariously he is running around a huge building stealing everything that is not nailed down to get credits.

I'm looking forward to testing this out on my series x via gamepass.

Looks a bit dull to me. Almost as boring as Mass Effect. Will definitely give a try on GP though.

If you blend Oblivion & Skyrim with Mass Effect plus throw in a touch of Destiny then that feels quite a lot like Starfield.

Watching others stream it is very dull, you don't get any real sense of the atmosphere and being within and interacting with the gaming environment. Playing it is a great experience.

I don't think it has the same charm and warmth of Skyrim though.

Something more wholesome and homely about Skyrim's viking/medieval setting and characters.

The 30fps on Starfield makes it feel sluggish and blurry other than that it's pretty good so far.

Not from my XBsX on my 4k TV, been silky smooth so far. I can't say the same for my gaming laptop experience however though; where, to get playable and the important consistent framerates, the graphic detail settings have to go right down.

There is a lot of motion blur and atmospheric artifacts unless you turn this off. Otherwise, if on the game doesn't look as clean.

About six hours in really enjoying it so far.
Looks and sounds great on my LG oled, its the first game that I have played that supports Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos. :)

Cheers all

I'd agree with this, it has definately the feel of fallout 4 in there too. My major complaint after not long playing (level 5 character) is that there is no weight to you as a character, its got the same instant spin and movement that Fallout 4 had; i.e. no mass to your body and therefore no inertia etc.

Try playing in 3rd party camera view.

I’ve literally just finished creating my character on Starfield so I’m in no position to cast any judgement other than to say it feels fairly smooth but there is a lot of blurring going on during movement. I’m playing on an LG C2.

I’m going to put in a proper session today (hopefully!) and turn off motion blur settings and see how it feels then.

Interesting to see the game supports both 1st and 3rd person but I wonder what the performance hit is in doing so?

Exciting times!

I played a bit of Starfield last night, only level 2 character so far, i think i'll get right into this game. The 30FPS was a bit jarring at the very start as i was unlocking the Season 5 reloaded weapons on MW2@120FPS before hand on shipment, lol.

After 30 mins or so, it wasn't a problem. Looking forward to them fixing HDR, the game still looks good on my 42" C2 as it is.

Had a good play on Starfield today. This game is going to be vast. I’ve spent a day on it already and I’m still only level 3.

But I’ve already explored a planet, set up an outpost, stormed and commandeered an enemy ship, cleared out pirates from abandoned research sites, and killed a massive alien thing that was level 10 and a total bullet sponge!

I’ve just landed in a space port type place (part of the main story) registered my commandeered ship and hopped on a train to go and see someone as part of the story. I’ve put it down for now but it’s got huge Skyrim vibes and is playing well all things considered. The attention to detail is brilliant.

For me, because I get side tracked with exploring, I reckon this game will probably need 20-30 hrs to get going.

I remember I put ~350hrs into Skyrim back in the day, so Starfield is likely to easily be something similar I reckon.

I think my launch day series X has give up the ghost, it has crashed a few times recently, I factory reset the console and this seemed to fix it but last night it crashed a couple of times and the last time I rebooted it there was a long message on screen but before I had a chance to read it, it crashed one last time.
After leaving it till today and power cycling it will not boot up, the power light comes on the console but there is no chime sound and no signal output, I have tried to boot into safe mode via holding eject and the link button but still no joy…..is it dead?
